Caitlyn Jenner, among other notable figures, has spoken out against companies partnering with trans women as their brand ambassadors. Dylan, who gained a following in 2022 after sharing details of her transition journey with followers, has been an “easy target” for critics due to being new to the industry.
Responding to the backlash, Nike advised users on social media to “be kind”. Dylan also shared a heartfelt message and clip of herself singing, “No One Is Alone”. In her Instagram post, she wrote that the song felt fitting for the week she had been having, despite the negativity.
In a recent podcast, Dylan shared her thoughts on the criticism she received, saying that going after a trans woman who has been in the industry for 20 years is more challenging; hence, she believes that she is being targeted not because of her work but because she is an easy target. The social media star received a flood of messages criticizing her latest deals after posting a promotional video for Bud Light and sharing photos featuring herself donning Nike workout gear. Nike addressed trolls on social media directly, stating that hate speech, bullying, or other non-positive behaviors would not be tolerated in their diverse and inclusive community.
