LeBron James has been seen arriving at the hospital where his 18-year-old son Bronny is after suffering a cardiac arrest.
This is the first time that the NBA star has been seen in public following the medical event of Bronny. He has arrived at the Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.
He was clearly trying not to draw too much attention to himself as he was wearing a baseball hat and a face mask, having arrived in a black SUV. He held up a peace sign to the photographers whilst he went into the building along with another man.
Bronny James went into cardiac arrest during a basketball practice session at the University of Southern California on Monday.
A spokesperson for the family explained to Page Six that he has since been released into general care.
“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the rep’s statement began.
“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family, and we will update media when there is more information.”
The family were also quick to thank that USC medical and athletic staff for their ‘incredible work and dedication’.
The reaction
“Prayers to Bronny & The James family as well here for you guys just like you have been for me my entire process,” Buffalo Bills star Damar Hamlin tweeted Tuesday, alluding to his own experience with cardiac arrest six months prior.
Stephen A. Smith also shared his thoughts. “I’m just thankful, thank the good Lord, that he’s doing OK and whatever caused this is something they will identify and alleviate as soon as possible so he can restore his life,” Smith said Tuesday on “First Take.”
“If you know anything about LeBron James, you can say whatever you want, people can be critical, but nobody debates what a loving, wonderful father he is and how much he loves his children, especially Bronny,” he continued.
