In his return from his off-season elbow surgery, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has accomplished two significant milestones.
Uncertainty loomed earlier in the week, regarding Purdy‘s participation against the Denver Broncos in pre-season, but coach Kyle Shanahan ultimately decided to have him start the game, aiming to give Purdy a complete series.

Purdy, who hadn’t faced an opponent since suffering an ulnar collateral ligament tear in his right elbow during the NFC Championship Game on January 29, made his comeback.
Teaming up with nearly all of the expected starting players for the 49ers, except Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle, Purdy had a total of 10 plays.
This effort resulted in a 69-yard drive, culminating in a field goal, contributing to the 49ers‘ 21-20 victory.
The quarterback completed five of his six pass attempts, for 65 yards.

“I thought he did really good,” coach Kyle Shanahan said afterwards.
“I mean, all the plays that he had, he made. I don’t think he had a bad one.”
Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have consistently stated that Purdy will assume the role of the team’s starting quarterback, provided he is healthy enough.
Subsequently, Purdy received clearance to engage in practice sessions on a two-out-of-three-day basis at the outset of the late July training camp.
Last week, this restriction was lifted, enabling Purdy to partake in practice for three consecutive days for the first time.
He is now on course to start the opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 10.
“I feel really good, honestly,” Purdy noted.
“I want to be able to practice consistently and, come Week 1, be ready to rip it. We’re getting there.”
