AEW star CM Punk celebrated his latest victory with a gesture of support for the transgender community.

Punk defeated Samoa Joe at Wembley Stadium for the Real World Championship on Sunday.

And after the fight’s conclusion, the 44-year-old wrestling veteran posed with a fan holding a sign that read ‘Trans rights are human rights.’

The sign also read ‘Oi Rishi!’ in an apparent reference to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who was accused of mocking trans women in June.

Punk tapped the fan on the head and put his arm around them before winking at the camera.

The wrestler previously voiced his support for Roe v. Wade, which made abortions a constitutional right in the United States before it was overturned by the Supreme Court in 2022.

At the time, he expressed his anger at the decision, blaming ‘elite, rich, white, terrorist religious fascists’ on Instagram.

His gesture on Sunday comes after Jack Perry reportedly physically confronted him before his clash against Samoa Joe.

The tension appears to be related to a comment made by Perry on AEW’s All-In buy-in show.

After a segment involving a car windshield, Perry said ‘It’s real glass, cry me a river’ – a direct reference to the argument he had with Punk a few weeks back over using glass.

Fightful previously reported that Punk took exception to Perry wanting to use real glass, considering it dangerous, while also assuming that Perry was doing it so he wouldn’t have to come to work the next week.

And on Sunday, the publication reported that Perry approached Punk backstage and ‘stepped in his face’ and ‘bumped him.’

Perry allegedly ‘got choked’ by Punk before reportedly being told to leave Wembley Stadium.

However, fellow AEW star Miro wrote on X that the report was ‘fake and untrue’.
