Ange Postecoglou has included Hugo Lloris in Tottenham Hotspur’s 25-man squad list for the Premier League this season, making a U-turn after the France international failed to secure a move away this summer.

This comes after French club Nice made a late offer for Lloris after they ripped up Kasper Schmeichel‘s contract, while Newcastle also looked to sign the France stopper.

However, he remained a Tottenham player as the window slammed shut and all eyes were on Postecoglou’s next move.

Lloris has stayed in North London to fight for his place between the sticks, despite Guglielmo Vicario starting the season as Postecoglou’s No 1 goalkeeper.

The Australian manager has named Lloris in his Premier League squad, with the goalkeeper unable to depart until at least Janaury.

He had been stripped of the captaincy earlier in the summer by the new head coach, who previously admitted that it looked unlikely Lloris would be included in his squad.

Postecoglou has now made a U-turn to allow Lloris to remain at Spurs, with Fraser Forster also part of the squad.

The Frenchman was named as one of 17 non-homegrown players in Tottenham’s squad as Postecoglou now has up to five goalkeepers he can choose from.

Furthermore, forgotten man Eric Dier was named in the squad as another one of the non-homegrown players.

Dier has not yet played a minute under Postecoglou this season and has also been heavily linked with a move away.

However, he remains at Spurs and could be handed the opportunity to prove the new manager wrong this season.
