Aaron Rodgers‘ Achilles injury has just about everyone talking. Players, coaches, national media, you name it: Rodgers is the main topic of conversation. That’s what happens when one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game joins a new team, then sees his entire season come crumbling down just minutes into his debut.

There’s been plenty of speculation about whether this injury could be devastating, even career-ending for the 39-year-old, but Rodgers himself has painted an optimistic picture with this first couple of social media posts following the injury. Even former teammates, ones who didn’t always get along with Rodgers, have chimed in with positivity.

The Gunslinger speaks out

Brett Favre, the former Green Bay Packers legend who also spent a season with the New York Jets, has talked about Rodgers’ outlook in an interview with TMZ Sports.

“He can bounce back from this, there’s no question. It’s not the end of his career unless he chooses to end it. I personally think that he will come back and be as good, if not better, than ever. I don’t see him going out like this.”

Favre doesn’t see Rodgers’ career finishing on an injury, but he also believes Rodgers will be motivated to get back to playing with his Jets teammates. The former gunslinger had a good feeling about this Jets team with Rodgers at the helm and believes he will want to try it again next year.

“They had a good thing going”

“It seemed to me from the outside looking in they had a good thing going there. Just the vibe I was getting. If that’s the case, if he felt that way too, give it a shot. That’s what I would tell him.”

Favre also mentioned that Rodgers can still help the team in 2023, primarily by helping support Zach Wilson, who will take over as the starting quarterback of the Jets once again. Wilson struggled mightily in his first two seasons, but he’s never been able to learn firsthand from a quarterback of Rodgers’ caliber.

It’s a bit surprising Favre mentioned he would reach out to Rodgers, considering the two didn’t see eye-to-eye during their time together with the Packers. But Rodgers did say a few years ago that the relationship has been mended and they speak often.
