LeBron James has said that Anthony Davis is a Los Angeles Lakers great, as he declared the 30-year-old to be the face of the franchise.

Davis committed his long-term future to the Lakers by signing a three-year contract worth 177m dollars in August 2022, locking him to the organization until 2025.

LeBron James under fire for controversial Saudi Arabia visitR.O.

“He is the face [of the franchise],” James said at NBA Media Day on Monday.

“You look at all these [retired] numbers that surround this facility, all the greats that have come here. AD is one of them.”

It seems James might be thinking about life after the NBA with his comments, but data can back up the claim that Davis is ready to take the mantle from the former Cleveland Cavaliers player.

In 2022/23, Davis led the Lakers in win shares, with his score of 9.0 being some 3.4 clear of any other Lakers player.

Furthermore, he had a competitive Value Over Replacement Player score with James, both on 4.0.

LeBron James has still got it too

James is set to enter his 21st season in the NBA and he is still on top of his game as well.

Combining his immense talent with dedication to looking after his body, he remains a force to be reckoned with.

In 2022, he put up 28.9 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game and 6.8 assists per game and had two triple doubles.

The legendary player is contracted until 2025 with the Lakers on a 99m dollar deal, and wants to return the franchise to NBA Finals glory, afer they last won in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
