The Kansas City Chiefs extended their winning streak to five games, with a 5-1 record this season, despite facing criticism for their perceived underperformance. Although statistically, it’s the best start the Chiefs have had with Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback, their offense hasn’t been as dominant as in the past.

Former NFL star Ryan Clark compared Mahomes to Drake, suggesting that the Chiefs‘ slow start may not be cause for concern.

“So, you know what it is, when you’re the Kansas City Chiefs, you’re like Drake, right?” Clark said.

“Very early on in Patrick Mahomes‘ career, you dropped ‘Take Care’ and everybody been waiting for the album to come out again.

“So when you drop ‘For All the Dogs’ now, they’re pi**ed off with you because they feel like you’re not playing up to the same level, even though you’re outselling everybody else. That’s what the Kansas City Chiefs are now.

“We’re talking about a one-loss team that drove the football up and down the field, has a defense that is playing lights out, which they haven’t had in years past and we’re like, yeah, but it doesn’t look the same.”

Lacking younger players

The team lacks a standout wide receiver, and younger players such as Rashee Rice have begun to show glimpses of their talent. As the season progresses, others such as Skyy Moore and Justyn Ross are expected to make significant contributions.

Some argue that the Chiefs may not be taking their opponents seriously yet, experimenting with various strategies in their games. Despite this, they continue to secure victories.

Mahomes, while not at his absolute best, is predicted to improve as the season unfolds and may push for his third MVP award. So far, he has thrown for 1,593 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions, with a passer rating of 95.7.
