Trent Alexander-Arnold heaped praised on Liverpool‘s latest academy graduate Luke Chambers after the youngster made his debut for the club in their 5-1 Europa League win over Toulouse.

Chambers started for Jurgen Klopp‘s side on Thursday night and put in a solid performance in a dominant win that saw the Reds maintain their 100 percent record this campaign.

Fittingly, the home side were captained by their most successful academy star in recent years, who recalled his debut in 2016 and hailed the youngster’s performance.

‘I’ve seen it was seven years yesterday since my debut,’ Alexander-Arnold told TNT Sports post-match. ‘And I still know exactly how it feels.

‘That excitement, you’ve worked so hard for. He’s put in all the hard work, he’s shown himself, he’s been outstanding every time.

‘He’s been in and around the team on and off the pitch, and he plays amazing football.

‘It’s amazing to see him out there, and he’s a real amazing player and he has great potential – and I’m sure him and his family will have a great night because it’s one he’ll never forget.

‘He put in an amazing performance out there, very mature, and contributed to a big win for us.’

Goals from Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah fired Liverpool to all three points.

And aside from Toulouse equalising shortly after Liverpool’s opener in the first half through Thijs Dallinga, it was a perfect night for the Premier League outfit.

Chambers, who has seen his first team oppurtunities improve with the long-term injury to Andrew Robertson, said the experience was a dream come true.

‘I’ve dreamt of this moment since I was six years old,’ the 19-year-old said. ‘And a win as well. I’m lost for words.

‘I found out yesterday and had a little bit of time with my family at night and a bit of reality this morning when I woke up. But I loved every minute of it.’

Former Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole also had a few congratulatory words for a youngster he reckoned ‘looked at home’ on the big stage.

‘He should be very proud of his performance.’ said Cole. ‘He’s done everything you needed to do. He looked at home. He didn’t look like a young lad.

‘He’s done very well and should be pleased of his night’s work.’
