An in-season torn Achilles for any player in any professional sport knocks them out for the year in almost all cases. The same was expected for Aaron Rodgers when he got injured in Week 1.
Rodgers has been adamant that he can beat the odds, aided by an innovative surgery that is supposed to speed up the recovery process. While most people are still skeptical, Rodgers stunned a lot of them on Monday night.

Before the New York Jets game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Rodgers warmed up on the MetLife Stadium turf, showing off a dropback and planting on that recovering left Achilles while making throws.

Rodgers had surprised fans by walking without crutches earlier today while arriving to the Jets locker room.
Warming up is not the same as playing in a real NFL game setting, so there’s a lot of work left to be done before Rodgers can start again. He truly believes he can play again this season, whether that’s the right decision from a medical standpoint or not.
The Jets are 4-3 without Rodgers while being led by a resurgent Breece Hall and a great defense schemed up by head coach Robert Saleh. Zach Wilson has been inefficient in Rodgers’ place, but he has limited turnovers as of late.
Getting a 50% Rodgers could still be the Jets’ preference late in the season, but we’ll see if that’s actually plausible once December rolls around.
