LeBron James and many others involved with the Los Angeles Lakers feel that they were hard done by in their 108-107 defeat against the Miami Heat, because of the officials.

It was always going to be a really tough game for the Lakers against a side like the Heat, meaning they were never likely to get the result if the officials were, as they believe, not doing them any favors at all.

There were a number of rotational players that were missing for the Lakers, such as Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent, whilst they also lost Anthony Davis to a hip spasm partway through the contest.

Referees anger the Lakers

Darvin Ham was given his first technical foul of the season for arguing late in the third period.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the Lakers trailing by 10, D’Angelo Russell was given two Ts in one sequence for protesting a kick ball and then, according to crew chief James Williams, per the official pool report, for disrespectfully addressing the ref.

“All I want is an explanation sometimes,” said Ham.

“And to not get that for the rest of the game once I got my technical…

“We just want balance and consistency.

“I don’t think I talked to the crew chief for the rest of the time after getting my technical, but it is what it is.

“I come from a world where we use the saying ‘Don’t ask, don’t expect, don’t beg’ in terms of officiating.”

LeBron James also had his say on the night’s officiating.

“I think some of the things we couldn’t control controlled the game a little bit in the fourth quarter, it’s unfortunate.” LeBron opined.
