It’s been 79 days since Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles during his New York Jets debut in Week 1. For most players, that injury would undoubtedly end their season, but an innovative surgery has had Rodgers confident he’ll be able to return this year.
On Wednesday, he was a limited participant in practice, marking the first time he practiced since the injury. The Jets have 21 days to activate him from IR to the full roster.

While it still feels too good to be true, the team posted an encouraging video from the practice.

It’s in slow motion and a practice setting is hardly close to a real game setting, but Rodgers didn’t appear to struggle much as he faked a hand-off, dropped back and bounced around before unloading the throw. We’ve seen Rodgers warming up at stadiums before games, but today marks another step in his speedy recovery.
It was only yesterday that Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and mentioned that he will only return if two things happen: 1) He’s fully healthy and can protect himself and not hurt the team, and 2) The Jets are in contention for a playoff spot and can make a run.
With a limited practice on Wednesday, Rodgers is getting close to No. 1. As for No. 2, the team will have to rally and shake off a four-game losing streak in order to stay alive long enough for Rodgers to be able to rejoin them.
