FIFPRO have announced their 23-player shortlist for the 2023 Men’s World 11, with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both making the cut.

The veteran duo both waves goodbye to European football across the 2023 voting period, with Messi heading to MLS with Inter Miami and Ronaldo signing for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

Erling Haaland is also on the shortlist following a record-breaking year with treble-winners Manchester City, while Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Virgil van Dijk are among the other high-profile names nominated.

The XI will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards in London on January 15.

Over 28,000 players have cast their vote for this year’s XI, with FIFPRO priding the awards as the only one exclusively decided by professional footballers.

The team is comprised of one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards. The final spot is reserved for the remaining outfielder with the highest amount votes.
