Famed boxer Floyd Mayweather is embroiled in a legal battle following an incident that allegedly involved his security team. As reported by The Blast, the lawsuit, which has been filed nearly two years after the initial incident, accuses Mayweather‘s bodyguard of battery.
The controversy dates back to 2022 when Mayweather and his entourage, known as the Mayweather Money Team, entered the Yard House restaurant near the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The presence of the team reportedly caused a significant disturbance, leading to a crowd forming around them.
One patron, using his cellphone to record the Mayweather Money Team, attracted the attention of the boxer and his security. According to the lawsuit, a member of Mayweather’s team “negligently, carelessly, intentionally, maliciously and/or physically touched, struck and/or hit [the victim],” resulting in him falling to the ground. The altercation escalated with the bodyguard attempting to seize the patron’s cellphone, allegedly causing further harm.

Although a representative for Mayweather stated that the boxer left the restaurant due to overcrowding, the alleged victim reported feeling fearful for his life. The police were called to the scene about 30 minutes later, and their investigation revealed inconsistencies in the victim’s account compared to witness statements.
This is not the first time Mayweather has been involved in such a situation. A similar incident occurred in 2010 at The Palms casino in Las Vegas, where a man claimed Mayweather‘s security team assaulted him after he attempted to photograph and speak with the boxer.
The plaintiff in the current lawsuit is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. Mayweather, known for his illustrious boxing career, now finds himself facing allegations that could impact his public image and financial standing. The case continues to develop as more details emerge.
