Deebo Samuel is off the injury report after sustaining a shoulder problem in the San Francisco 49ers‘ divisional round victory over the Green Bay Packers, meaning that he is eligible to play in the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions on January 28.

The 28-year-old completed a full Friday (January 26) practise meaning that he could be taken off the injury report after leaving the first half of their slender 24-21 victory against Jordan Love‘s Packers.

Samuel has been one of the 49ers‘ key receivers in 2023, being targeted by Brock Purdy on 89 occasions throughout 2023, which he has translated to 60 receptions for 892 yards and seven touchdowns making him the third most favored 49ers receiver behind Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle.
He’s even slightly ahead of Christian McCaffrey in the receiving game, proving his value to the side and subsequent value as he is cleared to play against Jared Goff and Sam LaPorta‘s Lions.
He doesn’t just have value as a receiver either, he is also an adept rusher, going for 225 yards from 37 attempts, which has yielded a further five touchdowns giving him a combined total of 13.
That makes him a useful piece in the 49ers offense, which is something that they will need to defeat the 12-5 Lions. The pair didn’t actually meet during the regular season so it’s somewhat of a wild card to predict the winner and how they will shape up.
When is the 49ers vs Lions?
The NFC Conference Championship game will take place on Sunday, January 28 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara as the 49ers are on home turf.
The game is scheduled to start at 18:30 ET (15:30 PT) on that day.
