The bombshell news so far this year came out in Formula 1: seven-time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton signed with the legendary Scuderia Ferrari to be their driver in 2025, along with Charles Leclerc. After days and hours of speculation, the news was released today by Ferrari, stating that Hamilton signed for several seasons with them.

The impending move has cast a shadow over Carlos Sainz, who is expected to part ways with Ferrari as a result. The 29-year-old Spanish driver, who played a pivotal role in Ferrari’s last victory in Singapore 2023, now finds himself at a crossroads with ample options to consider for his future endeavors.

Regarding Hamilton’s current team, Mercedes, the situation is equally intriguing. Despite renewing his contract until 2025 last year, recent developments suggest that the door might not be entirely closed for a potential departure. In the ever-evolving world of Formula 1 contracts, exit clauses have become a common feature, allowing for flexibility in driver-team relationships.

This has been exemplified by drivers like Leclerc and Norris, who have signed seemingly long-term extensions with Ferrari and McLaren, respectively, with provisions for early termination based on performance.

The prospect of Hamilton donning the iconic red of Ferrari and aiming for an eighth championship title is undeniably enticing. It presents a unique opportunity for the British racing legend to etch his name in the annals of Formula 1 history by attempting to secure titles with three historic teams.

Sainz give an update on his situation

In a statement through his social networks, Sainz announced that his contract with Ferrari ends after the upcoming 2024 season and that as soon as he has news of his future in F1 he will announce it.

For Sainz, while the prospect of becoming a champion with Ferrari may not materialize in the immediate future, his track record with the team certainly adds value to his profile. With numerous vacant seats available for 2025 at teams like Mercedes, Audi, and Aston Martin, Sainz is poised to make a significant decision in the coming weeks.
