Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has refuted claims that a recent interview with a well-known fan channel led to a ban on future similar interviews.
Hojlund was interviewed by The United Stand last month, which caused an extraordinary backlash that resulted in death threats being sent to divisive host Mark Goldbridge and a police investigation.
The channel is enormously popular but is perceived to benefit from spreading criticism and negativity. That had led to claims of Hojlund’s decision to engage irking other players.
But any suggestion there has been an internal backlash for the Denmark international has now been referred to as “fake news” by the player himself.
“Nothing has been said to me, so it is fake news,” he told Tipsbladet while on international duty.
“I haven’t read all of that, but it’s certainly not true that something has been said to me that I may not do an interview with one or the other fan media.”

Hojlund grew up supporting United, and The United Stand, established in 2014, has provided constant commentary on the club in the new media space for the past ten years.
Last week, the Daily Mail reported that Hojlund, having consumed its content in his younger days, understood why some teammates had an issue and did not mean to upset them. But rather than cause any serious tension between players it led to dressing room ‘banter’.
Aware of the huge popularity and influence of The United Stand in a crowded fan channel market, the club has made the decision to occasionally engage and provide access to players before now.
