A woman is fighting for her life after she was viciously attacked in the middle of a Yorkshire town last night.
Humberside Police have arrested a man after a woman was attacked with a weapon in Boothferry Road in Goole, East Yorkshire, on Wednesday, April 3. Officers raced to the scene at 5.25pm where they found a woman seriously injured.
The attack prompted a large-scale police manhunt in the small town, leaving many residents fearful as rumours started to spread. It is understood that residents were told to keep their windows and doors closed.

The police helicopter circled above as the National Police Air service supported Humberside Police. A man was eventually arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Unconfirmed reports describe the weapon used as a type of hammer, although the police have not disclosed this information. The woman remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Nicola Burnett said: “I understand that the extensive police activity in Goole and the surrounding areas this evening may have caused some concern amongst the local community.
“I want to offer my reassurance that we do believe this to have been an isolated incident between people who were known to each other with no wider risk to the public.”
Extra police patrols continued through the night as officers worked to piece together what happened as well as reassuring residents.
