As the NFL draft approaches, the Chicago Bears are leaving no stone unturned in their evaluation of USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the expected No. 1 pick. This week marked a crucial step as Williams embarked on a top-30 visit to Chicago, a culmination of the Bears’ thorough assessment process.
During his visit, the Bears spared no expense, treating Williams to dinner at the upscale Sophia Steaks in Lake Forest. While there, they likely conducted medical evaluations, an aspect Williams had declined during the NFL Scouting Combine.

Reports from NBC Sports Chicago’s Josh Schrock suggest that the visit was a success, indicating the Bears’ growing admiration for Williams. This sentiment isn’t new; the Bears had previously dined with Williams before his pro day, even attracting A-list celebrities to the occasion.
“The pro day, which was a couple of weeks ago, they took him to a place called ‘Bird Streets’ in Los Angeles, which is a private members club,” Schrager told “The Herd.”
“It was kind of cool for the Bears guys — I spoke to sources there — to see how Caleb kinda operates in that LA scene. At that dinner, they’re there at a table. But there are also celebrities. I think Quavo from the Migos was there. And Jamie Foxx was there.
“The one thing that the Bears have told me in that interaction was ‘He moves quietly.’ He’s not a ‘Look at me!’ guy. If anything, he’s kinda quiet and a little bit more reserved than you would imagine from a Heisman Trophy, No. 1 overall pick, who made all this NIL money.”
According to NFL insider Peter Schrager, the Bears were keen to observe Williams in the LA social scene, a test he seemingly passed with flying colors. With each interaction, the Bears’ confidence in Williams’ character seems to strengthen, dispelling any lingering doubts about his suitability for the team.
