Harry Kane says he’s fully focused on his career at Bayern Munich, seemingly ruling out a quick return to the Premier League.

Kane ended a 19-year association with Tottenham Hotspur last summer, costing Bayern a guaranteed €100m plus €10m in potential add-ons to become the Bundesliga’s most expensive signing ever.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed great personal success over the course of his career, winning three Premier League Golden Boot awards, the 2018 World Cup golden boot as well as becoming England’s all-time record goalscorer. But Kane has never lifted a trophy at club or international level – a primary motive for his move to Bayern.

Unexpectedly, Bayern are on course to surrender their Bundesliga crown to Bayer Leverkusen, while they suffered a humiliating DFB-Pokal exit to third-tier 1. FC Saarbrucken in November. But still have a chance at Champions League glory after holding Arsenal to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their quarter-final tie – a game Kane scored in from the penalty spot.

After the game, England’s captain was asked about a potential return to the Premier League, where he seemingly ruled out the prospect of a return – in the short-term at least.

“I’m really enjoying my experience in Germany and it was a step that I needed in my career for a fresh stimulus, a fresh challenge and new surroundings, new stadiums, new teams and I’m really happy that I made the move,” he said.

“Of course, I know how big the Premier League is, I played there for so many years before and my future is at Bayern Munich. I have a four-year contract, I’m really enjoying it, hopefully I will be able to make something special happen this season.

“But if not, I’ll be ready to go again in the summer and turn things around. It’s been a disappointing season in the Bundesliga mainly compared to what Bayer Leverkusen have done. You have to give them credit and respect but Arsenal was a chance to show our togetherness and we’ve done that.”

Kane has enjoyed a record-breaking season with Bayern, plundering goals galore to threaten Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a Bundesliga campaign. He has 32 to his name from 28 games played, having broken Uwe Seeler’s record of most goals scored in a debut season.

He has also scored four Bundesliga hat-tricks and became the first player to score at least twice in eight different games. The goals have also flowed in the Champions League for Kane, with seven goals in nine outings helping to put Bayern in a strong position to reach the final four.
