A man has been arrested and rushed to hospital after the bomb squad had to deal with an incident in Halifax, it is understood.

The incident occurred at a property on Bankhouse Lane, Salterhebble, at 6.24pm yesterday (Sunday, May 5). The man remains in West Yorkshire Police’s custody.

Following reports of explosives at the scene, the force has said there is no longer any threat to the wider public. A scene was set up by Calderdale CID at the location.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At 6.24pm yesterday evening, officers were called to a concern for safety at a property on Bankhouse Lane, Halifax.

“A man was taken to hospital for treatment. He has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody at this time. A scene remains on at the location for searches. Calderdale CID are carrying out enquiries. There is no threat to the wider public.”
