An invite to the Met Gala chaired by Anna Wintour – US Vogue’s formidable editor-in-chief – should be the chicest event in the calendar and even more high fashion than the Oscars, with the prestigious New York art museum as its backdrop and a literary inspired theme.
JG Ballard’s The Garden of Time was the inspiration for this year’s event, but celebrities seem to have become confused and dressed for The Garden of Eden instead.
Rita Ora, who is no stranger to a naked dress, led the way with the barely-there looks, donning little more than a body stocking with a few strategically placed tassels for the main event, before flashing her nipples at the after party with just a floral arrangement protecting her modesty.
Meanwhile, rapper Doja Cat wore a white wet Vetements dress. On her way to the gala she shocked fans by appearing like she was fresh out of the shower with a towel dress wrapped around her body and head.
She then changed for the red carpet itself in another wet look white dress – going braless and without underwear to show off her figure to the max.
Still in Vetements, she pushed the naked look even further to attend The After By Richie Akiva, swapping her see through gown for an even more revealing co-ord set, featuring a sheer top and tights.
But while some celebrities attended the prestigious event to showcase their barely-there looks, an array of A-listers such as Rihanna, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and Hailey Bieber surprisingly skipped the occasion this year – despite their comebacks being highly anticipated by fans.
Emily Ratajkowski, who first found fame by stripping off in the Blurred Lines music video, also went braless on the red carpet, pictured left. Pictured right, Iris Law opted for her usual quirky look – with a daring twist. The daughter of Sadie Frost and Jude Law seem to be inspired by a Halloween bride in a semi sheer corset and tights with a headscarf and micro skirt
Blake, who has previously served as chair of the Gala, and Rihanna – who often has one of the most talked about looks of the night – both have recently welcomed children.
But others – including Khloe Kardashian, Timothée Chalamet, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish – were no shows on the red carpet.
Meanwhile, Emily Ratajkowski, who first found fame by stripping off in the Blurred Lines music video, also went braless on the red carpet, meaning her after party outfit – consisting of a sheer tasselled dress over a sparkly bikini – looked positively demure by comparison.
The custom Versace gown left very little to the imagination, with the American model completely exposing her bare bottom through the dress.
Sydney Sweeney, who often opts for revealing red carpet gowns, looked unrecognisable as she debuted a dark bob on the red carpet.
The actress was breathtaking in a one-shoulder, light blue tulle gown from Miu Miu that flowed down into a full skirt to brush the ground. However she then flashed the flesh again at the after party in a backless number.
Elsewhere, FKA Twiggs went almost completely naked in a see-through beaded dress with a white rope coat by Georgia Pendlebury.

The nepo babies in attendance also opted for daring looks; Willow Smith, 23, wore a black structured blazer with no bottoms as she headed onto the red carpet with her brother. She then changed into a barely there look which saw her don lose gold chains over a black bikini.
Meanwhile Iris Law, who has recently been linked to footballer Trent Alexander Arnold, opted for her usual quirky look – with a daring twist. The daughter of Sadie Frost and Jude Law seem to be inspired by a Halloween bride in a semi sheer corset and tights with a headscarf and micro skirt.
Elsewhere, Kim Kardashian sent shockwaves through the Met Gala as she flaunted her astonishingly small waist in a silver custom Maison Margiela gown by John Galliano on Monday in New York City.
