The B sample of Ryan Garcia‘s anti-doping test has been opened. Garcia tested positive for Ostarine in the fight in which he defeated Devin Haney, and the secondary sample has now been opened in the presence of a King Ry representative, bringing the possibility of a heavy punishment a little closer.

John Haney launched a threatening video against Ryan Garcia last week in which he warned of the countdown to the opening of the B test.

That countdown ended on Wednesday upon the opening of the sample, but Haney also criticized Garcia for his suggesting of a new boxing league in the case of a suspension.

Boxing insider Dan Rafael confirmed that the B sample was opened, but that the results would not be known immediately. While the results could yet come through in the coming days, they may not arrive until next week, with Memorial Day and Memorial Weekend taking center stage.

Ryan Garcia faces a suspension of one to two years and a financial fine if he tests positive again for PEDs. On top of that, Devin Haney‘s corner and his promoter Eddie Hearn have asked the New York State Athletic Commission to revoke the decision and for Haney to instead be awarded the win. Although in this scenario, any possibility of a rematch would be revoked.

If the B sample proves negative, this whole saga will simply become another anecdote in the complicated and controversial Ryan Garcia story, while it could also spark talks of a new fight.

Ryan Garcia threatens to create his own boxing league

Garcia recently gave statements to Boxing Social in which he spoke harshly and directly at Eddie Hearn, describing him as a “cabrón” or “b*****d”. He also accused him of being part of a plot that seeks to affect him and kick him out of the world of professional boxing. Garcia also threatened to create a new boxing league in the case he receives a suspension.

Eddie Hearn is a scumbag. You can’t make it look like I’m a cheater when your own boxer cheated (…) They’re framing me,” Garcia said with conviction in front of the cameras during an event, although hours later he surprised many by taking a photo with the promoter in which they both appear smiling.

“I don’t care if they suspend me my whole life because I’m going to create my own league and make my own fights. I’m not going to quit boxing, I’m going to quit ‘this boxing,’ create my own league and fight on my own,” Garcia added on the possibility of being punished after the opening and analysis of his B sample.

Ryan Garcia shows off video in Brazil while awaiting B-sample

After spending a few days in Saudi Arabia to attend the fight in which Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury, Ryan Garcia posted a video from Brazil.

During the video, he is accompanied by two women while listening to music in a car. The video gave the impression that he is far from worried about the results of the B sample.
