Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones is dismissing any speculation about his teammate Travis Kelce retiring soon. Kelce, who will turn 35 during the 2024 season and has 10 NFL seasons behind him, is still seen by Jones as having plenty of football left to play.
On Wednesday, Jones told the media that he believes it’s crucial for the Chiefs‘ core group to stay together for several more years. Jones, a pivotal figure in Kansas City’s dominant defense, stressed the importance of Kelce, who has been a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ offense.

“He’s got like four or five more years and what is he talking about, right? We can’t let TK go,” he noted.
“It’s like we retire, we’ve got to retire together. Give me at least six, four years, then we’ll talk about it.”
No plans for the future
This conversation arose just a day after Kelce spoke about his future in the sport, expressing his intention to keep playing until he physically can’t anymore. While Kelce understands the typically brief nature of NFL careers, he has no immediate plans to retire.
“I really can’t put a timeframe on it man,” Kelce said.
“I love coming to work every single day. Obviously, I know that there’s opportunities outside of football for me and I think you gotta keep in perspective that I’m still a little kid when I come into this building man.”
Jones also emphasized that he is not ready to step away from the game. Both Jones and Kelce are committed to continuing their impactful roles with the Kansas City Chiefs and are focused on maintaining the team’s success for years to come.
