Hot ticket: Taylor Swift’s Eras tour is heading to London this weekend

Premier Inn owner Whitbread said business has been boosted by the Taylor Swift Eras tour.  The hotel giant said sales in the three months to the end of May were up just 1 per cent on a year earlier at £739million. 

But it added the start of the US superstar’s European tour, which kicked off in Edinburgh this month and moved to Cardiff last night before heading to London this weekend, was bringing in business. 

Whitbread said the tour had brought a ‘significant volume of guests to our hotels’.  ‘Taylor Swift is one of our key booked events this summer alongside Edinburgh Fringe and Wimbledon, supporting our strengthening trading momentum as we enter our peak demand period,’ a spokesman added. 

The European football championships in Germany and Olympic Games in Paris are all expected to boost demand for travel and hotel rooms this summer. 

Shares rose 1.8 per cent to 2955p.
