David Raya will reportedly join last season’s Premier League runners-up Arsenal on loan with an option to buy from London rivals Brentford.
Raya has one year remaining on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, which will be extended for a further 12 months to facilitate the deal.
Despite Aaron Ramsdale’s stellar performances between the sticks, it is thought that Mikel Arteta’s side are keen for the England international to have sterner competition.
According to the Athletic, the deal is expected to see Raya move to the Emirates for an initial £3million loan fee with the option of making the switch permanent next summer for an extra £27m.
The 27-year-old is expected to undergo a medical with the Gunners on Thursday ahead of a switch that will see him move from west to north London.

Matt Turner has left Arsenal to join Nottingham Forest in a deal that could be worth up to £10m
Former Arsenal backup keeper Matt Turner completed his move to Nottingham Forest earlier on Wednesday to make way for the Spaniard.
The United States international signed a four-year contract at the City Ground in a deal which could be worth up to £10m.
‘It is a great challenge and a great step in my career,’ said Turner, who moved from the New England Revolution to Arsenal last June.
‘The manager and the backroom staff, everything about the club has a little sparkle to it. It has felt right from the start and I am happy it’s got done.’
Raya has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal and it is understood the north Londoners want to get the deal over the line before their opening Premier League fixture of the 2023-24 campaign against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
