Brighton are all over the shop as they give the ball away cheaply again on the edge of the box that Salah picks up and drives forward.

The Egyptian has looked slightly clumsy today as he tries a spin in the box, hits the ground and smiles knowing there was no foul to be given.

Confusion amongst Brighton’s defensive ranks gives Bradley a sight at goal. The Northern Irishman smashes a shot towards goal but it can’t find a way through a crowd of Seagulls players.

David Coote might as well not have bothered putting his cards back in his pocket as Van Dijk finds his way into the referees book for pulling back Adingra.

Danny Welbeck has just been given a very bizarre yellow card after complaining that Brighton should have had a foul.

I presume the card was for dissent but the goalscorer didn’t seem very animated and more confused than anything after being shown a yellow by David Coote.

Klopp’s team-talk shows signs of immediate improvement as Adingra sizes up Quansah but is muscled off the ball by the young Liverpool defender. Much better than we saw in the first half.

We’re back underway at Anfield. This scoreline suits the two teams that have just arrived at the Etihad 40 minutes up the road as Man City host Arsenal an Liverpool will be desperate to find a winner.

The story of the first half may mostly have been about Liverpool but Brighton’s attackers are looking equally dangerous every time they go forward.

I imagine Klopp is in the dressing room now fervehntly giving out instructions to Bradley and Quansah because Adingra has been tormenting both of them almost every times he gets over the halfway line.

Salah has been Liverpool’s main instigator but the concern for Liverpool is the Egyptian’s shooting has been well below par.

Welbeck hasn’t done tons since his stunning goal but does really well to win Brighton a free-kick on the halfway line that takes the sting out of Liverpool’s attack. Anfield isn’t happy as the fans sense a goal is coming.

Both teams have just taken their foot off the accelerator in the last couple of minutes, possibly not wanting to concede just before half time.

Liverpool are still looking like the more dangerous outfit but Brighton are like a sleeping predator just waiting to pounce on the counter-attack.

This has been a crazy first half with Liverpool largely on top but Brighton showing fleeting signs of danger.

It’s entertaining to watch but the concern for Liverpool is the game is so expansive that they rarely look to have any control on proceedings.

You don’t know which way this one is going to go and Klopp won’t like that.

This match is being played at an incredible tempo and you feel there are plenty of goals still to come. Liverpool top the Premier League as things stand.

Liverpool seriously need to wake up because Brighton are getting so much space down the left-wing – largely through Adingra – and Bradley is struggling defensively. If their finishing was better then Brighton would be back in front!

Brighton players demanded Diaz’s striker be ruled out for offside but replays show the Colombian timed his run back into the box to perfection as the ball took a touch off Dunk. Anfield is rocking.

Breakthrough for Liverpool as Luis Diaz times his run to perfection back into the box following a corner and stabs the ball past Verbruggen. Back on level terms and deservedly so.

Brighton are struggling to keep hold of the ball and that is allowing Liverpool’s defenders to push right up to the halfway line.

The one positive for the visitors is that they look very organised when defending with a host of players behind the ball.

The Reds have largely attacked down Brighton’s left-flank but are just slowing things down slightly as they try to take the sting out of Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

It was a truly magnificent strike that gave the visitors the lead and you get the feeling Liverpool are getting closer and closer to scoring.

Pascal Gross now finds himself in the book for a foul on Mac Allister. Referee David Coote seems to have little patience for nonsense today as he lays the law down early.

What a chance, what a miss and what a moment that was for Salah. The Egyptian beats the offisde trap and watches Mac Allister’s chip all the way but volleys over from close-range.

Liverpool are knocking at the door, will Brighton allow it to creak open?

Brighton counter-attack and Alexis Mac Allister is losing the footrace against Simon Adingra as he pulls down the Seagulls star just inside Liverpool’s half.

The referee took a while to blow for the foul and when he does decides to show Mac Allister a yellow card who must know be careful for the rest of the game.

A sending off would be a disaster for Liverpool.

Salah wins a corner as he finds space inside the box but doesn’t trust his right-foot and by the time he has scopped the ball onto his favoured left has the ball swept away. Corner comes to nothing and Brighton will try to break.

Liverpool are dominating possession – as expected- but Brighton are doing well to get what seems like every man behind the ball.

That forces Liverpool to shoot from range and Alexis Mac Allister has a sight at goal but leans back and watched his shot sail into the stands. Brighton reply by trying to waste time at the goal-kick.

Mohamed Salah pulled Liverpool level in the reverse fixture this season and is doing his best to repeat history again. Brighton can’t get a grip of him but there is too many players in the box to fashion a shot on goal.

The Egyptian then does find space as Brighton concede possession but his effort sails wide of the upright.

Darwin Nunez wasnts a penalty claiming that he has been pulled back by Pervis Estupiñán but nothing is given. There was contact but it was minimal and VAR rightly allows play to continue.

Liverpool started poorly and were punished by Welbeck. Brighton won the ball back virtually from kick-off and passed through the hosts’ midfield with concerning ease.

Klopp looks stunned in his dugout and understandably so as Brighton look to come again!

Wow what a start and what a finish that is from Danny Welbeck. We said the former Man United star would be desperate to score at Anfield and he has just put Brighton ahead with an outrageous goal.

The ball bounces just in front of Welbeck on the edge of the box and his half-volley is smashed into the top corner. What a start!

We are underway at Anfield as Brighton get the back rolling following an emotional tribute to former Liverpool player Larry Lloyd.

Here we go then, Anfield is on its feet to welcome their warriors into battle and what a chance the Reds have today.

Jurgen Klopp makes just once change from the Liverpool team that started against Man United in the final game before the international break as Conor Bradley comes in for the injured Andy Robertson.

Jarrell Quansah keeps his place alongside Virgil van Dijk in defence ahead of Ibrahim Konate who starts on the bench.

The visitors are inside Anfield ahead of kick off and there was very little emotion on show from the players walking through the famous corridors of one of English football’s greatetst stadiums. Nerves or excitement?

Liverpool’s injury woes continued during the international break as Andy Robertson became the latest star to join the growing list of players in the treatment room at Anfield.

The Spaniard played for both Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League but enjoyed his best years playing in a red shirt rather than a blue one.

Torres could be in the stands for today’s Anfield clash and you can expect Liverpool fans to serenade him if he is.

Liverpool at Anfield are an almost impenetrable force at times. But, as they arrive at the ground today you wonder how they will be feeling after their draining defeat against Man United before the international break.

United’s dramamtic 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final victory saw Liverpool slumpl out of the competition as Amad Dialo virtually won the match with the last kick of the game before the international break.

It was draining for both sets of players but Liverpool didn’t have the winning feeling to carry them through their recovery.

Liverpool aren’t used to losing this season – they have only done so twice in the league – so it will be interesting to see if there is any mental hangover from that crazy night at Old Trafford.

The mission for Liverpool is simple: win and they go back to the top of the table. A draw would suffice by moving them one point clear of Arsenal but with City and the Gunners playing later tonight it would do little to help their title credentials.

For Brighton it is a story of finding form after becoming one of the English top-flight’s most inconsistent teams since the turn of the year. Roberto de Zerbi has won just two of his last five Premier League fixtures and will be desperate to put things right today.
