Tom Brady might have to purchase his small stake of the Las Vegas Raiders for a lot more money than previously expected, but while those details get ironed out, franchise owner Mark Davis wants the retired NFL quarterback to help him in the hiring process of a new head coach and general manager.
Davis, 68, fired HC Josh McDaniels, GM Dave Ziegler and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi last week after back-to-back losses. A grievances meeting with Raiders players was seemingly the straw that broke the camel’s back.

CBS Sports‘ Jonathan Jones reported that Davis is “expected to rely on team executives and would-be partial owner Tom Brady for advice on who to lead the team. After a package deal last time, Davis will likely hire a GM first, and then a player-centric head coach after the season.”
McDaniels, who worked with Brady 14 years in New England, tried to implement “the Patriot way” in Las Vegas and failed miserably.
It’s understandable why some fans are skeptical of Davis wanting to get Brady involved in the hiring process of new leadership.
Coaching options for Raiders
Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce is seemingly the perfect choice for the job, but Davis doesn’t always make reasonable choices.
Though highly unlikely, it’s unclear if Brady had anything to do with the firing of McDaniels, considering their relationship. The GOAT previously mentioned him on his list of great coaches and GMs with whom he’s worked.
“I’ve been around great mentors in my football career, you know, being blessed to get drafted by the Patriots,” Brady said last year on the Dan Patrick Show. “I was around one of the great owners in the history of the NFL and Mr. [Robert] Kraft, one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history in you know, in Coach Belichick.
“Josh McDaniels, Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel, I mean, the list goes on with the coaches that have been around general managers, Jason Licht, Scott Pioli.”
