Wanted man Nowek was finally locked up in March after he opened fire at a Bradford home in the dead of night.

A mum her two young children were asleep at the house in Coleshill Way back in October 2020 when masked Nowek arrived in the early hours and fired four shots from a Makarov semi-automatic self-loading pistol. A forensic investigation later revealed that one of the bullets fired at the kitchen window had penetrated the house and struck a wall on the opposite side of the kitchen before ricocheting and hitting the conservatory door shattering part of the glazing.

He fled to London after the shooting, but he was arrested eight days later and police found the clothes he had been wearing and the mask inside his Mercedes car. During a search of his flat, officers also found more than 200 ecstasy tablets.

Police investigating the shooting later searched a house in Neville Street, Keighley, and found the Makarov pistol used by Nowek and another full working prohibited revolver which had his DNA on it. Nowek was released on police bail but he failed to turn up as required and was not arrested again until he was found in Southampton in January 2022.

He was handed seven years in jail, and a hybrid order under the Mental Health Act, which means he will continue to be treated at the medium secure Newton Lodge unit but when his treatment is completed, he will be transferred to a prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.
