Newcastle United will wear a one-off jersey at home to Tottenham this month, with Sela set to donate the front-of-shirt sponsorship to charity.

Mail Sport understands that discussions have been taking place for several weeks and the charity will be named closer to the game on April 13.

Sela, the Saudi-based events company who signed a £25million-per-season deal with the Magpies last year, are keen to donate the shirt space for a key televised game against top-six opponents – so ensuring maximum exposure for the charity – and Spurs has long been earmarked.

It means the likes of Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon will don a jersey that will be unique from any other in the club’s history. There will also be additional tie-ins related to the cause on matchday.

Sela want their relationship with the club to be fan focused and they arranged a drone show over St James’ Park on the eve of Newcastle’s 4-1 win against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this season.

They also handed out free scarves ahead of the FA Cup victory at Sunderland in January and a Sela-backed ‘Howay’ bus is now in operation for away games.

But their latest venture is sure to be remembered and will give the charity a lasting place in Newcastle’s history.
