Brooke Vincent has admitted she doesn’t know if she’ll ever return to Coronation Street, claiming bosses ‘never rang’ to invite her back after her maternity leave.

The soap actress, 31, last graced the cobbles in 2019 after playing Sophie Webster for 15 years and went on to welcome son Mexx the same year

Appearing on Loose Women alongside Emmerdale actress Laura Norton on Wednesday, Brooke gave fans an insight into whether she would return to Corrie.

Asked by Coleen if she was returning, Brooke laughed and said: ‘Well it’s funny because like I say I left for maternity and they never rang so I don’t know!’

The actress went on the talk show with Laura to promote their new reality series Dram Queens – which follows nine female soap stars from across Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, and Coronation Street as they give soap fans a glimpse into their lives off camera.

Since returning to acting after having her sons Mexx, four, and Monroe, two, who she shares with her fiancé Kean Bryan, Brooke announced she would be turning her attention to the stage.

The actress is set to star in the UK tour of Kay Mellor’s The Syndicate, a play based off the 2012 TV drama, which follows five supermarket workers whose lottery syndicate numbers come in, just as their jobs and livelihoods come under threat.

Brooke said that filming for her upcoming reality show followed her through the transition from being on maternity leave to starring in the play.

Happy with her career transition, she told Coleen: ‘Like I say I’m really excited this different avenue of doing theatre and we start in in Richmond tomorrow.

‘I’m so scared but it’s that adrenaline boost of live and you’re just like “Yes”.’

MailOnline has contacted Coronation Street for comment.

Brooke previously revealed she ‘lost her identity’ during her first pregnancy.

Speaking on the the Made by Mammas podcast last year, the 30-year-old star said: ‘People just underestimate how carrying a child can make you feel and how it can knock your confidence. I just didn’t know who I was.’

Asked by Coleen if she was returning, Brooke laughed and said: 'Well it's funny because like I say I left for maternity and they never rang so I don't know!'

Brooke went on to reveal she hated how she looked during pregnancy so much that she refused to wear any of the clothes again – and even wouldn’t put on the same trainers.

She recalled: ‘I just really didn’t have it in my head that actually there is an aftermath, there is a time when you will lose your baby weight.

‘There’s so many different pressures that you put on yourself within the pregnancy. And then when I had him, I remember going for something to eat about five or six weeks after, and couldn’t find anything to wear.

‘I didn’t want to wear anything I wore when I was pregnant – even to the trainers. I just didn’t want to wear anything because I just hated how I looked pregnant.’

Brooke also struggled with comparing herself to other high profile figures who were pregnant at the time, unable to comprehend why they looked ‘tiny’ compared to her.

She confessed:  ‘I was on social media at the time and there were a couple of people in the public eye that were pregnant the same time as me and I was like ‘I look nothing like that.’

‘I didn’t understand. ‘I’m like ‘are they on a diet whilst they’re pregnant? Why are they so tiny?’

‘I just couldn’t really grasp it, so I think I felt a bit like ‘oh my god, this is really out of my control.’

She added: ‘All I could see was my arms were really big, ‘I can’t wear that top, I can’t wear that dress because my bump’s now really big, my legs are now really big.”

Brooke previously revealed that she and Kean are hoping to expand their brood in the future, joking she wants ‘lots and lots’ of children.
