Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders was ejected for “targeting” UCLA Bruins running back Carsen Ryan in the first half of Saturday’s NCAA college football game at Rose Bowl Stadium. Deion Sanders, who unsuccessfully challenged the call, defended his son during a halftime interview.

Coach Prime, 56, called the ejection “horrendous” while live on air with ABC. Buffaloes trailed the Bruins 6-7 into halftime, but Charles Kelly‘s defense took a massive hit with Shilo’s expulsion, which occurred with 3:23 left in the second quarter.

Shilo, 23, forced a fumble earlier in the game. UCLA’s Carson Steele was unable to hold on to the football when the safety went to tackle him on his rush.

Colorado went on to lose 16-28 as Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders couldn’t overcome the pressure from the UCLA defense.

Shedeur, 21, completed 27 of 43 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown despite being under constant pressure throughout the entire night.

The Colorado offensive line allowed 24 pressures, 17 hits, 13 knockdowns and seven sacks.

Buffaloes now have a 4-4 record after starting the season with three consecutive victories followed by three straight losses.
