Strictly Come Dancing star Amanda Abbington has worried fans with a hospital picture next to her fiancé. Amanda Abbington, 52, took a selfie in the hospital with her former stuntman fiancé Jonathan Goodwin.

In the photo, she’s smiling big and close to Jonathan, who was on Britain’s Got Talent. Amanda wrote with the picture: “The bravest dude I know. More spinal surgery. We’re used to hospital rooms.”

She also put some emojis like hands praying, fingers crossed, and hearts. Jonathan and Amanda knew each other online for ten years before they met. Jonathan shares a daughter with his ex wife Katy – an assistant magician he tied the knot with in 2011.

He didn’t ask to meet mum-of-two Amanda until after her marriage to actor Martin Freeman, who is also 52, ended in 2016. They got engaged very soon after they met for the first time, reports the Mirror.

Then, something very sad happened. A year later, Jonathan got really hurt doing a stunt on the TV show America’s Got Talent: Extreme, which was later cancelled. He got lots of injuries, including losing a kidney and hurting his spine so badly that he couldn’t move his legs. Jonathan even told Amanda she could leave him if she wanted to, but she said no.

The former stuntman had once said: “I said you have a get out of jail free card, if you want to walk away I understand and she told me not to be so stupid.”

Amanda spoke about Jonathan’s strength on Lorraine, saying: “He’s amazing, he makes me smile. I love him to bits, he’s going from strength to strength. I forget he’s in a wheelchair; he’s independent and strong. He’s genuinely my hero, I don’t know what I’d do without him. He’s so supportive and gorgeous. Wedding in summer it’s happening.”

After her stint on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, where she danced with 33 year old professional Giovanni Pernice, there were whispers that they didn’t get along off the dance floor. It was later revealed that Amanda experienced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after the show and has asked the BBC to give her all the rehearsal footage.

Amanda is said to have talked with Giovanni’s past dance partners Ranvir Singh and Laura Whitmore about their time with him. Now, there are stories that Faye Tozer from Steps also found it tough working with Giovanni. With these stories coming out, some people wonder if Giovanni will stay on Strictly, as some say he’s “too intense” during training and performances.

Amanda, speaking about her experience after Strictly, shared: “I told a few people about that, in the utmost confidence, among other things that were happening in my life . . . both professionally and personally. I’m very sorry that people felt the need to send me death threats, threaten my children and bring up my past, healthy relationship with an ex-partner as an indicator of my current mental health. I wish those people well.”
