Jill Duggar broke down in tears as she prepared to lay bare the horrifying trauma that her family’s sick religion had on her and her siblings for an upcoming Amazon Prime docuseries.

Entitled Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, the show – which will premiere on June 2 – is set to ‘expose the truth beneath the wholesome Americana surface of reality TV’s favorite mega-family, The Duggars,’ as well as ‘the radical organization behind them – The Institute in Basic Life Principles.’

Jim Bob, 57, and Michelle Duggar, 56, along with their 19 kids, were propelled into the spotlight after they starred in the TLC series 19 and Counting from 2008 to 2015, followed by its spinoff, Counting On, from 2015 to 2021.

The reality show documented the family-of-21’s day-to-day lives as members of the Christian group, The Institute in Basic Life Principle.

Now, an upcoming docuseries is going to lift a lid on the long-lasting effects that Jim Bob and Michelle’s involvement with IBLP had on their kids.

In a first look at the new show, various members of the family – including Jim Bob and Michelle’s daughter Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, as well as Jim Bob’s niece Amy Duggar and her spouse, Dillon King – could be seen speaking out about their harrowing experiences.

‘There’s a story that’s going to be told. And I would rather be the one telling it,’ Jill said.

People magazine also shared stills from the upcoming doc that showed tears streaming down both Jill and Amy’s faces.

‘World domination was the goal,’ an unidentified man told the camera in the teaser, while discussing IBLP.

Someone else added, ‘The IBLP teachings aren’t Christianity. They’re something completely different.

‘The biggest feature of Bill Gothard’s teachings is authority. Kids obey the parents and wives obey their husbands. Everyone obeys Bill Gothard.’

‘He turned every father into a cult leader and every home into an island,’ said another person.

All the kids were homeschooled, and women had to wear floor-length dresses at all times, since pants – as well as showing off any part of their legs – were strictly prohibited.

Jim Bob and Michelle also read their text messages, told them what they were allowed to watch on TV and what music they could listen too, and they even had a say in who they were friends with.

It also seems that the docuseries will delve into Josh Duggar’s child pornography charges. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison back in 2019.

Years prior to his arrest, an explosive police report emerged on the web that said the father-of-seven, 35, had admitted to molesting underage women, including four of his siblings – and that his own parents knew about it and failed to report the abuse.

‘How deep do we go? Because that’s a rabbit hole. Damn,’ a man said in the teaser, after an old clip of reporters discussing Josh’s scandal flashed across the screen.

Back in January, Jinger Duggar spoke out about her ‘fear-based’ childhood during an interview with ET.

The 29-year-old said IBLP ‘warped’ her view of God and left her terrified that her life would be a ‘disaster’ if she strayed from the intense regulations.

‘It was based on superstition, manipulation, control, and so my view of God was warped,’ she said.

‘I was promised that if I followed these teachings from Bill Gothard, this man, that my life would be a success and God would bless me.

‘But if I didn’t follow every principle that he taught, then my life would be one disaster after another.

‘The teachings of Bill Gothard, they have lasting effects, so I am still working through a lot of that.

‘Even though it’s hard that I’m having to walk through all of this, I can see it as God carrying me through.’
