Mark Ross Pellegrino was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 9 April 1965 – his zodiac sign is Aries, he holds American nationality, and is of Italian descent. He’s an actor and film producer, with close to 150 acting credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of Lucifer in the critically acclaimed fantasy horror series “Supernatural”, created by Eric Kripke, and which starred Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Jim Beaver. It follows two brothers who are travelling around the world chasing monsters and demons; the series aired from 2005 to 2020, and won 38 of the 167 awards for which it was nominated, including three Primetime Emmy nominations.

Early life and education

Mark was raised in Los Angeles by his parents, about whom little is known because he respects their privacy, but it’s believed that his father was Italian, and that he was the owner of his own small business, and that his mother was an American journalist. Because Mark hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, most of his fans believe him to be an only child.

He grew up being interested in sports, and played both soccer and football for his high school teams. It was when Mark was 17 that he became interested in acting, after he was cast to appear in a school play. He matriculated in 1983, and even though Mark hasn’t spoken of his further education, it’s believed that he attended college, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in acting in 1987.

Roles in TV series

Mark made his debut TV series appearance in the 1987 episode “The Wizard of Odds” of the mystery crime drama “L. A. Law”, while he was then invited to appear in an episode of various series, such as the family comedy drama “Doogie Howser, M. D.”, the action crime drama “Hunter” and the crime fantasy comedy “Tales from the Crypt”.

Mark appeared in a single episode of numerous series until 2001, when cast to play the supporting character Bobby James in the drama “The Beast”; the series was created by Kario Salem, starred Frank Langella, Elizabeth Mitchell and Jason Gedrick, and follows the lives of people working for a 24-hour news network. A couple of Mark’s other notable performances in the 2000s were in the action thriller drama “The Unit”, the mystery crime drama “Without a Trace” and the action crime drama “Burn Notice”.

He portrayed Gavin Q. Baker III in the hit mystery crime drama “The Closer”, created by James Duff, and which starred Kyra Sedgwick, J. K. Simmons and Corey Reynolds. The series follows the life of deputy police chief Brenda Johnson, aired from 2005 to 2012, and won 12 awards, including a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Mary McDonnell), while it was nominated for 72 other awards.

Three of Mark’s most recent roles in TV series have been in 27 episodes of the mystery thriller drama “13 Reasons Why” between 2017 and 2020, the 2020 episode “Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1” of the action thriller drama “9-1-1” and all nine episodes of the 2021 crime drama “American Rust”.

Roles in movies

Mark made his debut film appearance in the 1987 action crime comedy “Fatal Beauty”, while a couple of his following notable performances were in the award-winning 1992 action crime thriller “Lethal Weapon 3”, the 1994 romantic crime drama “F. T. W.”, and the critically acclaimed 1997 action science fiction adventure “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”.

Mark gained recognition when cast to play Joe in the 2001 mystery thriller drama “Mulholland Drive”, written and directed by David Lynch, and which starred Naomi Watts, Laura Harring and Justin Theroux. The movie follows a woman who has been involved in a car accident rendering her amnesiac, and is now roaming around Los Angeles, trying to learn more about herself; it won 49 of the 111 awards for which it was nominated, including an Oscar nomination for Best Director.

Some of Mark’s other notable performances in the 2000s were in the action crime drama “Spartan” and action adventure mystery “National Treasure” both in 2004, and the 2007 mystery crime thriller “The Number 23”.

Mark portrayed a supporting character in the 2012 biographical romantic drama “Hemingway & Gellhorn”, directed by Philip Kaufman, and which starred Nicole Kidman, Clive Owen and David Strathairn. The movie follows the relationship between the famous author Ernest Hemingway and the journalist Martha Gellhorn, and it won nine awards, including two Primetime Emmys, while it was nominated for 46 other awards.

Three of Mark’s most recent film roles have been in the 2013 crime drama “The Trials of Cate McCall”, the 2018 action crime drama “Beirut” and the 2019 short drama “13 Reasons Why: Season 3 Promo”.

Mark received special thanks for the 2011 short comedy movie “Moustache November”, the 2015 documentary series “Supernatural Fandom” and the 2016 documentary movie “Supernatural Fandom”.

He sang the song “Good Morning” in the 2012 episode “The Born-Again Identity”, and the song “Colt .45 Opening Theme” in the 2017 episode “Stuck in the Middle (With You)” of the series “Supernatural”.

Mark has two producing credits: the 2015 short war film “Lost in Time”, and the soon-to-be-released comedy movie “Strangers in a Strange Land”.

He was nominated for a 2010 Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films Saturn Award for Best Guest Performance in a Television Series, for “Lost”, and a 2017 Teen Choice Award for Choice TV: Villain, for his performance in “Supernatural”.

Love life and wife

Mark prefers to keep the details of his love life away from the media’s attention, but it’s still widely known that he’s today a married man. He exchanged vows with the Canadian actress and film director Tracy Aziz on 30 October 2008, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members; Tracy has appeared in three movies, including the 2011 drama “Post”. Mark and Tracy don’t have children together, while he’s the step-father to her daughter Tess Aziz.

Mark hasn’t spoken of any other women whom he has perhaps been with, so as of March 2022, he’s married to Tracy Pellegrino, and doesn’t have biological children.

Hobbies and other interests

Mark is physically highly active, and has five to six training sessions at the gym every week, thus his muscular body; he also practices various sports, including kickboxing, judo and ju-jitsu.

He’s highly active on Instagram, and apparently enjoys the attention which he’s receiving from his close to 700,000 followers. Mark has uploaded nearly 300 pictures onto the network, most of which have been taken during his everyday life.

Mark’s a dog-lover, and his pet dog Frankie can be seen featured in many of his Instagram pictures.

He’s into travelling, and his career has taken him to various US states, Canadian cities and European countries, while his dream travel destination is London, England.

Mark has his own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are the late Robin Williams, Tom Hanks and Anne Hathaway, while a couple of his favorite movies include “Good Morning, Vietnam”, “Saving Private Ryan” and “Les Miserables”.

Mark’s age is 56. He has short brown hair and blue eyes, his height is 6ft 2ins (1.9m) and he weighs around 175lbs (80kgs).
