Eddie Betts says it’s exhausting to have to constantly call out racial abuse but the Indigenous AFL great has vowed to continue to fight to stamp out racism in Australia.

Only days after the former Adelaide and Carlton champion shared footage to social media of four children being racially abused while playing basketball in the front yard of his home, Betts said he had no regrets about again bringing awareness to the problem.

Betts posted CCTV footage on Instagram on Thursday night of a white car driving in front of the Glen Iris home while four children played basketball inside the fence.

A male voice can be heard repeatedly yelling the N-word from the slowly moving car.

“It was really, really tough and hard to see,” an exasperated Betts said on Fox Footy on Saturday.

“I’m glad that I brought awareness to this because if I didn’t you wouldn’t know what happened. This continues to happen to Aboriginal people all over the country.

“We’ve got to keep calling it out. It is, you know, it is exhausting.

“I know I’ve called this out many, many times. I will still stand here in front of everybody and put my face to it … and call it out, educate and continue to educate because we need to stamp out racism in Australia altogether.

“Because it does hurt. I just want the people who’ve done this and you’ve drove past my house to yell abuse at my kids, it is hurtful.

“This will stick with them [my children] for the rest of their lives and the rest of my life.”

Essendon’s Jake Stringer is elated with the win from the Bombers today and he spoke to Fox Footy.

On the win

“It’s amazing. To comeback and win that was amazing,” Stringer said.

On his 55m goal to take the lead

“I was pretty confident. Outside 50m, I backed my own ability and as soon as I hit it I knew it was going in”

On how the match went

“At the start they jumped us. We were turning the ball over and they were killing us. Then in halfway through the second quarter our pressure ramped up and the game looked like we wanted it to.

“I think we only hit the lead with three minutes to go, to hold on was amazing. I couldn’t be prouder.”

On that denied goal and 50m penalty in the third quarter

“It is what it is. I didn’t hear the umpire as I was celebrating. Then when he told me it was 50m, I was flat because I had to run. But we got the points in the end.”

The Bombers have earned this win with a gritty second-half performance to withstand St Kilda’s pressure and snatch the lead at the finish.

Jake Stringer’s goal proved the difference but the Bombers ability to stay in the fight earned that chance.

The Bombers lead is out to five points after missed shots from Jade Gresham and Jake Stringer.

Dons 69, Saints 66 with five mins to go.

The Dons could have hit the lead again, this time Jye Menzies had a shot for goal after taking a great mark.
