Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin returned to NFL action on Sunday in his team’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
This return came just nine months after he suffered a cardiac arrest in a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals last term.

There was major concern for the safety at the time, but he managed to recover and is now back doing what he does best.
What happened to Damar Hamlin?
The 25-year-old American safety suffered a cardiac arrest on January 2, 2023, in the Bills‘ Week 17 game of the 2022 season against the Bengals.
The incident occurred after Hamlin made a tackle against an onrushing opponent, with the impact seeming to hit him directly in the chest.
After initially getting back to his feet, the player collapsed on the field and had to receive CPR.
Once stabilized, he was taken by ambulance to nearby hospital, where he spent a week in critical condition. He was discharged on January 11, 2023, and continued his rehabilitation at home.
Hamlin always had it clear that he’s return to football if permitted and he was cleared to return to training in April. He has participated in drills with his team since June.

Hamlin was able to return to training during the pre-season and played in three of the pre-season games, but this Sunday he was able to play in his first competitive game since the incident.
He did so in a battle of two of the best offenses in the AFC as the Miami Dolphins visited Buffalo.
Therefore, Hamlin has now returned to the field in an official game, as he was part of the Bills‘ lineup for the game against the Dolphins, where the crowd at Highmark Stadium gave him a heartfelt ovation as he came out.
