Chrissy Teigen is on a ‘crusade’ to ‘normalize formula’

Chrissy Teigen revealed she is on a new ‘crusade’ to normalize formula feeding, after being struck with ‘sadness’ and ‘guilt’ over difficulty breastfeeding her children.

After giving birth to her four-year-old daughter Luna and son Miles, two, the 34-year-old wife of John Legend recalled having to ‘use formula because of lack of milk from depression and whatnot.’

The best-selling cookbook author, who lost her child halfway into her pregnancy in September, said not being able to perform ‘nature’s most natural thing’ caused her to feel shame and stress.

Using her platform for good: Chrissy Teigen revealed she is on a new ‘crusade’ to normalize formula feeding, after being struck with ‘sadness’ and ‘guilt’ from not being able to breastfeed her kids

‘Normalize breastfeeding is such a huge, wonderful thing. but I absolutely felt way more shame having to use formula because of lack of milk from depression and whatnot,’ she tweeted to her more than 13.5 million followers.

She continued: ‘People have surrogates, people have trouble breastfeeding and all you hear as a new, anxious mom is how breast is best.’

Since expectant parents are often told that breastfed babies have fewer infections and hospitalizations than formula-fed infants, Teigen penned a reminder that all babies, regardless of how they are fed, will ‘be BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT, AND OKAY.’

‘I remember pumping my A** OFF, highest mode, so often, because I didn’t trust milk was going into their mouthes if I breastfed. it drove me mad to the point I could only get an ounce. An ounce!’ she recalled.

The star concluded: ‘I just remember the sadness I felt and want you to know you are doing it right if your baby is fed, mama.’

Her experience resonated with many of many of whom discussed their own stories and losing precious time with their newborns by trying to pump with no success.

‘Normalize motherhood. Women are shamed for absolutely every choice we make as mothers. Every. Single. One,’ a Florida-based mother replied, and has since garnered more than 3,300 likes.

Another Twitter user, who said she works as a pediatrician wrote: ‘Formula-shaming is the norm. Some babies don’t latch on to the breast well (despite mom doing all correctly) & may be hospitalized for failure to thrive. I’ve seen mothers with raw, pus-filled breasts still shamed into feeding. Formula is not unhealthy.’

Back in 2018, Teigen was slammed by a commentator on Instagram after her husband posted a snap of her feeling her youngest, Miles, with a bottle.

Doting mom: After giving birth to her four-year-old daughter Luna and son Miles, two, the 34-year-old wife of John Legend recalled having to ‘use formula because of lack of milk from depression’ ( seen in 2018 with baby Miles, now two)

While she had previously shared nursing pictures, the post sparked criticism from a mom-shamer, who commented: ‘you no longer breastfeed?’

‘John never breastfed Miles,’ Teigen quipped back in the comment section.

Over the years, the former model has been candid about undergoing IVF, her fertility troubles, postpartum depression and her recent pregnancy loss.

Earlier this week, she wrote about pushing through her emotional and physical pain as she begins to heal, after suffering a devastating miscarriage.

As she keeps her fans updated on her healing process, she appeared to be having a great day and, even, had a hilarious Twitter exchange with The Weeknd.

Just a few hours after her tweets about destigmatizing formula, she asked social media users to track down a song she heard on Sirius XM Radio.

‘Going bonkers trying to figure out a song I just heard twice the morning on the radio. Sounded like The Weeknd but cannot finddddddddd on iTunes. GOING CRAZY,’ she wrote, before describing the track as ‘new but sounded 80’s.’

Found it! While some fan were able to figure out it was The Weeknd’s song, Save Your Tears, the artist, himself, asked if it was fourth studio album After Hours

She clarified it was not Blinding Lights, but definitely sounded like The Weeknd.

While some fan were able to figure out it was The Weeknd’s song, Save Your Tears, the artist, himself, asked if it was the Max Martin-produced fourth studio album After Hours.

‘YESSSSSS THE WEEKND, IT WAS!’ she replied.

Healing: Earlier in the day, the beauty revealed in an Instagram video she had mastered the art of preparing the perfect bubble bath

Earlier in the day, the beauty revealed in an Instagram video she had mastered the art of preparing the perfect morning bubble bath, which she called ‘complicated.’

Using more than five different products from Amazon and listening to the True Crime Obsessed, she talked about not having the energy to stand up in the shower for the past few weeks, after the loss of her unborn son, named Jack.

‘I’m doing good, I feel good’ she said. ‘My legs are working again. Is it possible to overdose on therapy? I think I might have that. But, I don’t know, I guess I feel good. I feel good today.’
