Jake Paul believes Tommy Fury “would be dead” if the two fought on the street instead of in the boxing ring.

Former YouTuber Paul suffered the only defeat of his boxing career against Fury after a close bout in Saudi Arabia. Fury, who is a professional boxer by trade, won the fight on split decision, but Paul, who was on a mission to be taken seriously as a pro boxer, did knock Fury to the floor during the fight.

Paul is now preparing to fight UFC star Nate Diaz this weekend after previously flooring former UFC star Anderson Silva.

And during his preparations for the fight, he has spoken about the ill-fated Fury fight, and he was keen to point out the positives of the defeat.

“Taking him to a split decision, putting him down on the canvas when he’s the one that’s been boxing since he was 6 years old, his brother [Tyson] is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world,” Paul said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

“This is what he’s known – this is what he’s bred to do. So to take him to a split decision, I think a lot of people actually gained a lot of respect for me after that.”

“He would be dead”

While he was defeated in the ring, Paul believes he would have comfortably gotten the better of Fury had the two fought on the street.

“If it was man for man, when he was down on the canvas, I would’ve gotten on top of him and beat the s— out of him in a street fight,” added the internet sensation.

“He’s still my son. He was the one saying that I was gonna go to the canvas, all of these things, but if we were in an alleyway, he would be dead right now.”
