Stuart Broad has retired from all forms of cricket following the conclusion of the final Ashes Test, with former the bowler looking set to focus on his luxurious pub.
The Tap and Run is situated in Upper Broughton, Nottinghamshire and is run by the former cricketer. Last year, the pub was gutted following a blaze last June, which started in a tumble dryer and saw the roof and upper floor destroyed.
Ben Stokes’ side dismissed Australia for 334 to win the fifth Test by 49 runs at The Oval in the final test, with Broad at the heart of the action. His career came to a fairytale end as he took the last two wickets, which helped England secure a 2-2 draw against their rivals.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the fifth Test, Broad said: ‘Woakesy and Moeen set the tone unbelievably and when we got a couple of wickets we really started to believe. The crowd was so loud and we really jumped on that energy.
‘To pick up a couple of wickets to end the Test match and contribute to the team was very special.

‘When you make the decision [to retire] you wonder what your last ball will be and for it to be a wicket to win an Ashes Test match is pretty cool.’
With the former bowler now officially retired, attention will likely turn to his pub – which he owns with friend, and former England bowler, Harry Gurney.
The Tap and Run was named Pub of the Year at the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards 2021 and dubbed as one of Britain’s top 30 places to visit for a Sunday lunch, according to The Times.
The popular country pub re-opened this year following a £1m refurbishment. According to Nottinghamshire Live, the layout is similar to before, but has a few minor changes.
The new layout has accommodated more room for casual dining and drinking, and there is extra seating – which will provide better dining spaces throughout the pub.
Nottinghamshire Live also reported that the look is inspired by the surroundings countryside and includes greens and earthy colours.
The pub have created a new and improved kitchen as well as expanding the establishment’s garden.

Its food and drinks menu has caught the eye of many pub goers since opening. Many will be intrigued by their free range flat iron chicken, chimichurri and skin on fries – which will cost you £17.85.
A 6oz steak burger with Monterey jack cheese, tomato relish and skin on fries will cost customers £15.95.
The pub also offers a classic fish and chips, which is priced at £16.50.
There is also a wide range of soft drinks, beers and cocktails to try during your visit.

Having re-opened its doors on June 26, Broad revealed that he may look to expand and add more pubs across the area in the future.
Speaking to Business Live, Broad said: ‘The business plan is to try and get five in the next five years, which might sound a little bit like running before we can walk. But we need to make sure the Tap and Run continues on an up-hill curve.
‘Now might not be the right time but we’re always on the lookout. The crucial thing for us while we’re expanding is that we never lose quality.
‘I’ll definitely take another step forward within the pub business when my cricket eventually finishes, but I think rather than going fully 100 per cent into one thing I would like to have different things in my life that keep me interested – that keep me moving forward as a person.’
