COVID restrictions to ease in NSW as cases drop

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced the easing of several COVID-19 restrictions this morning, after no new cases of community transmissions overnight.

A group booking of up to 30 people will be allowed in restaurants, instead of the previous restriction of 20.

The number of guests allowed at weddings will also be raised to 300 from December 1.

Ms Berejiklian said the easing of restrictions was good news but it was important that people remained maintained COVID safety guidelines.

“We never want to be in a position where we have to go backwards,” she said.

There were four new coronavirus cases in hotel quarantine in the state overnight, with just under 7000 people tested over the past 24-hours.

Ms Berejiklian said she fears there may be “undetected” transmission chains, and called on people to be tested even if they have minimal symptoms, especially in western and south west Sydney.
