The Football Association are now investigating whether Sandro Tonali broke betting rules AFTER his £52million move to Newcastle in July.

Mail Sport can reveal the FA are looking into the possibility that the midfielder – who has admitted to being a gambling addict – continued to bet on football while under their jurisdiction. If so, he could be subject to further sanction.

Tonali is currently banned for 10 months for illegal gambling activity in Italy. The authorities in his home country investigated bets he placed on football – including on his own teams to win matches – up to the point of him leaving AC Milan in the summer.

However, the FA will now look into whether Tonali has breached their rules as a Newcastle player.
