Dele Alli ‘begs Tottenham to grant PSG move’ as midfielder plots reunion with Mauricio Pochettino

Dele Alli has asked Tottenham not to block a move to Paris Saint-Germain this month with the two clubs deadlocked on the terms of the deal, according to reports.

The Spurs midfielder has been frozen out in north London by manager Jose Mourinho and has been strongly linked with a PSG transfer since the start of the season, which could see him reunite with former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Alli has been limited to just four league appearances all season and has not featured under Mourinho in the top-flight since the middle of December.

But according to 90min, the 24-year-old has personally asked Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for an exit to France before the January window shuts on February 1.

The report claims Mourinho wants the England international to leave on a six-month loan deal as he sees a long-term future for Alli in north London.

But PSG reportedly want a loan deal until the end of the 2021-22 season plus an option to buy Alli at the end of the temporary stint, which is holding negotiations up.

Another potential delay in the negotiations, as revealed by Sportsmail last week, is the recent hamstring injury picked up Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso during the festive season.

Tottenham are currently unwilling to let Alli leave while the Argentine is on the treatment table.

It was under Pochettino that Alli broke onto the Premier League scene, with the majority of his 64 Tottenham goals coming under the Argentinian coach – who became the PSG head coach at the start of this month.

However, Alli has fallen out of favour at Mourinho’s Tottenham, with the iconic Portuguese manager branding the player ‘lazy’ on his first day as Spurs manager, as per the club’s Amazon Prime documentary released in late 2020.

Alli ended his first half-season under Mourinho with nine goals in 38 appearances in all competitions but has struggled to feature under the Spurs manager since being hauled off at half-time on the opening day of the current season against Everton.

The midfielder has also struggled for game time in Spurs’ European and domestic cup competitions, starting just two of Tottenham’s six Europa League group games along with starts against Stoke and Marine in the EFL and FA Cups respectively.
