Warwick Davis, the actor known for his roles in Star Wars and Harry Potter, has announced the sad passing of his wife, Samantha Davis, at the age of 53.

The news was shared with the BBC, revealing that she passed away on March 24. Samantha was not only a beloved wife and mother but also a co-founder of the dwarfism charity Little People UK.

She even had a role in the final Harry Potter film alongside her husband. “Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs,” Warwick expressed in his statement to the BBC.

He further described her as his “most trusted confidant and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career”. He fondly remembered her unique character, sunny outlook on life, wicked sense of humour, and her ability to always laugh at his bad jokes.

The couple’s love story began on the set of George Lucas’s film Willow, leading to their marriage three years later in 1991. Samantha also had a role in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 as a goblin, while Warwick portrayed both Professor Flitwick and the goblin Griphook throughout the eight-film franchise, reports Wales Online.

Their two children, Annabelle and Harrison, also paid tribute to their late mother, stating: “Her love and happiness carried us through our whole lives”.

“Mum is our best friend and we’re honoured to have received a love like hers.”

Warwick Davis, in a chat with People in 2022, reflected candidly on the sorrow he and his wife Samantha endured after their first born son passed away shortly after birth due to complications arising from the dwarfism genes both parents carry.

He said: “I think it brings you closer together, or something like that. But it’s an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It’s devastating.”

Adding salt to their wounds was a subsequent miscarriage of their second child. However, the couple subsequently welcomed their daughter Annabelle and son Harrison into the world. The proud dad noted that they cherished these children all the more due to their presence.

Echoing her parents’ thespian interests, 27 year old Annabelle has made a name for herself in acting in CBBC’s The Dumping Ground and Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

Warwick, widely recognised as Willow Ufgood, the eponymous hero of the original 1988 movie Willow reprised the role for its 2022 sequel. He’s also identified for multiple roles in the Star Wars film series.

Alongside his on-screen accomplishments, he and Samantha came together to establish Little People UK in 2012 with a vision to lend support to individuals with dwarfism and their families.
