A BRITISH man has been left critically injured after impaling himself on an iron fence spike at his home in Thailand.

Paramedics were called to a residential area in the Bang La Bang district of Chon Buri, on the country’s eastern coast, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man is believed to have tried climbing over the fence whilst he was drunk, according to local media reports.

When paramedics arrived, they found him trapped on the fence, with one of the arrowheads piercing his stomach.

The rescuers managed to lift the man off the railing, before giving him first aid and transferring him to a local hospital.

It’s believed his wound was about five to six inches deep.

The injured man was identified as Michael Girling, aged 65, according to the Bangkok Post.

The report adds that he had attempted to climb the fence after failing to open his gate because he was “too drunk”.

When attempting to climb the fence, however, he slipped and fell directly onto one of the spikes.

One of his neighbours, identified only as Pad, 50, said she found the man after hearing some moaning from outside and decided to investigate.

After finding him stuck on the fence, however, she rushed to find a ladder to rescue him and alerted paramedics.

She said the man had been living at the house for several months.

The man’s current state remains unclear.
