Spain and Brazil are the countries that are closest to being the next to host an NFL game.

The news was confirmed by Adam Schefter after he recently had Peter O’Reilly, the league’s executive vice president, on his podcast.

After Germany and the United Kingdom, countries where the NFL has already established itself in terms of expansion and where five games will be played this season, Spain and Brazil are in pole position to be next.

According to Schefter, the main priority for the NFL at the moment is to continue to make progress in terms of international expansion.

O’Reilly stated that the league has sent several officials to Madrid, as well as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, with the Metropolitano, but especially the new Bernabeu, being the venues that the NFL is considering as possible hosts in Spain.

It should be noted that the NFL awarded marketing rights to the 32 teams in 14 countries on five continents. Among them, the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears were the ones assigned to Spain.

This could be a clue as to which franchises could play the first game in Spain in NFL history.
