Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Abdoulaye Doucoure has just had Everton’s best chance.

It’s much better from the away side and Doucoure has just shown they are still in this game by forcing Martin Dubravka into a save.

His effort from outside the area stung the palms of the Newcastle goalkeeper.

19:11, 20

HUGE BLOCK! Burnley 0-0 Wolves

Wolves should be ahead… Vitinho is the reason they aren’t.

Rayan Ait-Nouri fires towards go from close range, it looks like it’s about to make the net ripple, but Vitinha gets in the way to keep the scores level.

Now, Burnley are having roof problems and their supporters are being moved from the Jimmy McIlroy stand.

Interesting stuff at Turf Moor.

19:08, 38

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Lewis Hall is on the ground and doesn’t look very happy.

Surely, they have not got another injury.

19:07, 37

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham

Joe Bernstein, Mail Sport, at the City Ground:

Among the three Fulham players to be hauled off is Harry Wilson, who had come in for a starting place in one of two changes from the weekend draw at Sheffield United. Wilson’s previous footballing connections weren’t missed by Forest fans who chanted “Derby reject” at the Wales international as he trudged off.

19:06, 35

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Newcastle are cutting through Everton like a knife through butter.

Elliott Anderson sees the ball is coming his way after good build-up play, but he can’t sort his feet out and it goes for a corner.

Nothing comes from the set-piece.

19:04, 33

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham

Joe Bernstein, Mail Sport, at the City Ground:

Fulham manager Marco Silva has seen enough – he’s preparing three substitutions and the game is only half-an-hour old! Willian, Adama Traore and Tom Cairney standing  in the technical area awaiting a break in play for their entrance.

All three have now come on… very early.

19:01, 30

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Miles wide from Beto.

That effort just shows Everton’s frustration. Beto decides to go for it from outside the box, and it doesn’t trouble the target.

At least they are going forward, I guess.

18:59, 29

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Jacob Murphy goes alone and fires it narrowly over the bar.

Murphy runs at the Everton defence without a single Everton player trying to get the ball off him.

This is a very poor performance from the Toffees.

18:57, 26

HIT THE POST! Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham

It should be three!

Nottingham Forest are cutting open Fulham at will, and Anthony Elanga has just hit the woodwork.

The home side play some brilliant pass-and-go football and Elanga receives it running into the area. But, he fires it against the post and wide.

I thought he was going to score, I think he should have.

Everton are playing out of the back… what is going on?

It’s not usual for a Sean Dyche team to do so, and you can see why. They didn’t look very comfortable doing it.

Everton have not responded well to going behind.

18:50, 19

GOAL!!! Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham (Wood 19′)

Chris Wood is at it again!!

He just can’t stop scoring and he has just doubled Forest’s lead from distance via a deflection. Forest are in dreamland.

Fulham just aren’t very good away from home, are they?

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, at St James’ Park:

If Newcastle are considering an approach for Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, Alexander Isak has just shaved £5m off his asking price by sitting him down for that goal.

KICK-OFF at Vitality Stadium and Turf Moor!

Two more Premier League games are underway.

Can Burnley continue their recent good form? Will Bournemouth get their double over Palace?

We will find out in over 90 minutes.

GOAL!!! Newcastle 1-0 Everton (Isak 15′)

Alexander Isak at St James’ Park again!

That is Isak at his very best. He gets the ball in the left-hand side, cuts in, and dances around the Everton defenders in the box before bending it home.

Pure brilliance from the Swede, but what were Everton doing defensively? They let him do as he pleased…

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

A much-need clearance by Ben Godfrey.

The ball is whipped into the back post and Harvey Barnes is lurking, but Godfrey does well to put it out for a corner.

In truth, Barnes never looked like he wanted to head that ball!

GOAL!!! Nottingham Forest 1-0 Fulham (Hudson-Odoi 9′)

What a goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi!

It’s a great through pass from Morgan Gibbs-White – who else – into the winger and he cuts back slightly, you expect him to pass, but he bends the ball into the bottom right corner.

That is the start Forest would have wanted – the City Ground goes bezerk!

BIG CHANCE! Newcastle 0-0 Everton

James Tarkowski has to do better.

The ball is swung in from a free-kick to the back post, and the defender to head it into the back of the net from inside the six-yard box, but his effort goes over.

That was a big chance for the Toffees.

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

Fair play to Everton, they are ignoring the crowd.

They make their first foray forward and it ends with Abdelaye Doucoure smashing an effort narrowly over the bar. He struck that with some venom.

Not a bad response from the visitors.

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, at St James’ Park:

You’re always guaranteed a raucous crowd at St James’ Park when Jordan Pickford is in opposition… and it’s bouncing here.

BIG SAVE! Newcastle 0-0 Everton

Newcastle have started as they finished on Saturday.

Harvey Barnes nearly answered my question straight away but his effort was saved well by Jordan Pickford.

I can barely hear myself think, St James’ Park is so, so loud!

KICK-OFF at St James’ Park and City Ground

Strap yourselves in!

We are underway at both St James’ Park and the City Ground, both stadiums are rocking.

‘City Ground bouncing at the moment’

Joe Bernstein, Mail Sport, at the City Ground:

The City Ground’s reputation as having the best atmosphere in the Premier League is going to be put to the test. It’s bouncing at the moment a few minutes before kick-off but nerves are also going to kick in. – Forest simply need a result to get away from pesky Luton in the relegation battle.

Fulham are playing with the freedom of an in-form mid-table team and interesting that Harry Wilson has been recalled to do some damage on the right flank.

St James’ Park rocking

Wow, St James’ Park is very loud.

They must be bouncing after Saturday, and it’s clear to see they want to push their side to another three points tonight.

Night matches always bring incredible atmospheres – I love them.

Barnes to impress once again

We aren’t far from kick-off at St James’ Park.

I’m interested to see how Harvey Barnes fares for Newcastle from the start tonight, all four of his goals for the Magpies have come from the bench.

he hasn’t had the easiest of times at Newcastle. If he can impress once again tonight, he will fo his chances of a run in the team a lot of good.

Will he score tonight?

Spurs Starting XI – Johnson comes IN

Ange Postecoglu has decided to make three changes.

Brennan Johnson comes in from the start after his fantastic performance off the bench against Luton.

Micky Van de Ven and Rodrigo Bentancur also come in.

West Ham Team News – Fabianski STARTS

David Moyes has named his side for the derby.

The Hammers boss has made just the one change, and it’s enforced, as Lukasz Fabianski comes in for the injured Alphonse Areola who went off in the 4-3 loss to Newcastle.

Kalvin Phillips is involved, he makes the bench.

Can Kalvin Phillips turn Hammers’ nightmare around?

It’s not been a good two months for Kalvin Phillips at West Ham.

On Saturday his nightmare stint in east London hit a new low. The English midfielder gave away a penalty and looked poor at St James Park.

Following the match, the 28-year-old was seen apparently giving a middle-finger gesture in the direction of fans who had given him stick.

He needs to find a way of turning his career around sometime soon, but how many minutes will he get to do that.

Will he get on the pitch tonight?

Burnley to make a great escape?

I know it’s unlikely, but could Burnley stay up?

They looked like they had no chance just a month ago, but after their win against Brentford and draw with Chelsea, they are only four points away from Nottingham Forest in 17th.

If they go on a good run, anything could happen!

Wolves Starting XI – Doherty Starts

Gary O’Neil also makes two changes.

Matt Doherty and Hugo Bueno both come into the side, but the news that Matheus Cunha has been named on the bench will please Wolves fans the most.

The forward had been out since mid-February due to a hamstring problem.

Burnley Team News – TWO changes

If he could have, Vincent Kompany would have probably only made the one change, David Fofana, who missed the Chelsea game due to ineligibility against his parent side.

However, he has had to make two due to Lorenz Assignon being sent off at Stamford Bridge. Charlie Taylor comes into the defence.

Crystal Palace Starting XI – Hughes IN

Will Hughes is the only person to come in for Crystal Palace.

Odsonne Edouard is back on the bench after a knee injury and former Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma starts against his old club.

Bournemouth Team News – FIVE changes

You can tell that Bournemouth are nearly safe, they have made five changes.

Squad rotation will increase from now until the end of the season, and Lloyd Kelly, Ryan Christie, Dango Ouattara, Alex Scott and Philip Billing all come into the side.

It shows the strength of the squad at Andoni Iraola’s disposal.

Eddie Howe: ‘Barnes looked sharp against West Ham’

Eddie Howe, Newcastle manager, speaking on TNT Sports:

He [Harvery barnes] looked really sharp when he came on [against West Ham]. He’s a goalscorer.

We’ve tried not to focus on who’s missing. That would be a negative.

Since January, our form has been pretty good. I’d love to think we can really grow until the end of the season and have a positive end to what has been a challenging campaign. If we can come out the other side we could see the benefits next season.

‘Kieran Trippier will be facing another THREE weeks out’

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, at St James’ Park:

Some big injury news from here at St James’ Park – Kieran Trippier will be facing another THREE weeks out with a calf problem, while Miguel Almiron (knee) and Tino Livramento (ankle) will miss all of April.

Also, not only have Newcastle named two goalkeepers on the bench tonight, they’ve also included a player in Amadou Diallo who has been told he’s leaving the club at the end of the season.

Redemption time for Spurs

Spurs will have been wanting to redeem themselves since their 2-1 loss to West Ham at home back in December.

The loss came in a run of five games without a win, including four losses, a period for the team.

Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse turned the game around for the Hammers after Christian Romero gave Spurs a first-half lead.

Today is a chance for Ange Postecoglou’s side to put things right, they will need to in their fight for a top-four spot.

Can they grab three points at the London Stadium?

Update on Livramento and Almiron

Not good news Newcastle fans…

Craig Hope, Mail Sport, has revealed both Tino Livramento and Miguel Almiron could be missing for most of April due to injury.

Not what Newcastle needed in their push for European football.

Hammers have point to prove

What better way would there be to comeback from Saturday’s loss to Newcastle with a win over Spurs.

David Moyes and his side will feel they have to bounce back from that 4-3 defeat with immediate effect tonight. It would banish the memories of that day very quickly.

For large parts of the game at St. James’ Park, the Irons looked a good side. When they went 3-1 ahead, I couldn’t see the Magpies coming back due to their inconsistency this season.

However, The Hammers just simply fell apart. There is no other way to put it.

Win tonight though, and all will be forgiven.

Magpies find Toffees easy to chew

Newcastle love it when Everton come up north.

The Magpies have won three successive home league matches against the Toffees and five of the last seven including away fixtures.

However, they didn’t enjoy their outing at Goodison Park in December, they came out on the wrong side of a 3-0 scoreline.

They will be hoping normal service resumes tonight, though.

Fulham Line-Up – TWO Changes

Marco Silva has made some changes, unlike him.

Harry Wilson and Kenny Tete start for Fulham as they look to return to winning ways.

Rodrigo Muniz starts again, there was never any inclination that he wouldn’t.

Nottingham Forest Team news – Elanga back IN

Anthony Elanga returns to the starting 11 as one of three changes.

Andrew Omobamidele and Danilo also come in.

Taiwo Awoniyi remains on the sidelines, but their top scorer Chris Wood remains up top.

Everton Starting XI – Calvert-Lewin BENCHED

Sean Dyche has rung the changes.

the most noticeable of the four changes he has made to his side that lost at Bournemouth is the inclusion of Beto, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin dropping to the bench.

The Toffees summer signing did score at the weekend, something Calvert-Lewin hasn’t managed for 23 matches…

Newcastle Team News – Barnes STARTS

There he is, Harvery Barnes does indeed start for Newcastle.

Eddie Howe has made our changes to the side that beat West Ham in that dramatic comeback, with Emil Krafth, Lewis Hall, Elliott Anderson and Barnes all coming in.

You can see in the line-up how many players the Magpies are missing.

Livramento & Almiron missing from NUFC squad

Some early team news from St James Park.

The injury crisis at Newcastle United is never-ending, and two more key names will be missing from tonight’s match.

Who will actually make the squad?

No Everton reunion for Gordon

Newcastle always seem to have a bunch of players out, and tonight you can add Anthony Gordon to that list due to his red card against West Ham.

You imagine Gordon would have been eager to show his old side what they are missing tonight, however, the second yellow card he got for kicking the ball away in added time against the Hammers scuppered that opportunity.

After netting two goals off the bench to turn Saturday’s game on its head, Harvey Barnes would be the perfect person to come in for Gordon.

We will find out what Eddie Howe’s solution is in five minutes!

Bournemouth searching for first double over Eagles in 35 years

Compared to the other games tonight, this one has slightly less on it.

Both Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are sitting rather comfortably in 13th and 14th and are not far from sliding on their flip-flops and heading for the beach.

We are not at that stage quite yet, but Bournemouth are just two points away from the 40-point mark though, so a win tonight basically guarantees their safety.

The Cherries have historically struggled against Crystal Palace, but their 2-0 win over them ended a run of five consecutive League defeats to the Londoners and means they can complete a first league double over Palace for the first time since 1988-89.

Although I said there isn’t too much on this game, Palace may want to separate themselves from the relegation conversation a bit more with a win tonight.

This game will be a tight affair, I feel.

Burnley keen to close gap on relegation rivals

If you asked me a month ago if Burnley had any chance of staying up, I’d have said a resounding ‘no’.

However, after four points from their last two games, which includes a brilliant point away at Chelsea with 10 men, the relegation fight is not over just yet.

The Clarets are four points from safety and if they grab a win tonight against Wolves, it will be fair to say the fight is well and truly ON!

That’s easier said than done though. Wolves under Gary O’Neil have been brilliant this season, one of the surprise packages in the division – they will make life hard for Burnley.

Tonight is another must-win game for the 19th-placed Clarets.

Four in a row for Fulham against Forest?

Fulham were another side involved in a Premier League epic at the weekend.

Marco Silva’s side came from 3-1 down to snatch a point against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane thanks to a Rodrigo Muniz wonder strike.

Tonight, they face another relegation-threatened side, but one that has more of a sniff of survival, in Nottingham Forest.

The west London side love a clash against Forest, they have won all three of their Premier League games against them by an aggregate score of 10-2.

However, they have never beaten any side in the competition four times in a row. Could they manage that feat today?

Remember, Fulham have only secured two wins on the road this season, so Forest will feel they could stop their rut against them with a valuable victory tonight. The hosts are in need of a win in their hunt for survival.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Will Newcastle kick on from incredible West Ham comeback?

Newcastle fans will barely have recovered from their sensational comeback win over West Ham, but they will be back tonight in full force at St James’ Park as Everton make the trip up north.

The Geordies will be hoping tonight can be much more straightforward than Saturday lunchtime – although we love the drama – and the players can use the win over the Hammers as a springboard for the rest of the season.

It’s been a topsy-turvy season for the Magpies, with injuries and inconsistent performances slowing down their progress following last season’s top-four success.

However, Eddie Howe’s side still sit eighth and are in the hunt for both the Europa Conference League and Europa League spots.

Everton have their own fight on their hands though, they sit just three points above the drop zone and are winless in 12 league games – a club record – so they will be desperate for a win tonight.

Both teams have a lot to lose.

Fierce London rivals reunite

Both West Ham and Spurs fans search for this match when the fixtures are released before the season commences – the game is huge for both sets of fans.

Nobody ever likes losing to a rival, and with both the Hammers and Spurs fighting for European football, three points is a must.

West Ham will be forced to pick themselves up off the floor after Saturday’s dramatic loss to Newcastle, while Spurs’ comeback against Luton has kept them on the heels of fourth-place Aston Villa.

With so much at stake for both sides and their dislike towards one another, it’s set up to be a cracker in east London.

Non-stop Premier League action

All Premier League teams are in action this week, but tonight is the busiest with 10 sides facing off in a monumental set of midweek fixtures.

It’s set to be another good night of football, so let’s have a look at what we have in store:

  • Newcastle vs Everton 19:30 BST
  • Nottingham Forest vs Fulham 19:30 BST
  • Burnley vs Wolves 19:45 BST
  • Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace 19:45 BST
  • West Ham vs Tottenham 20:15 BST

Back so soon?

This time of year is footballing heaven.

The run-in to the end of the Premier League season is well and truly underway and if we are treated to anything like we saw on the weekend just gone, we are set for one hell of a ride.

We have only had to wait two days since the whistle was blown on the chess battle between Manchester City and Arsenal – that is the polite way to put it – for league action to return and tonight we have five top-flight fixtures for you to tuck into.

London rivals meet again, the battle for European football continues, and struggling sides continue their fight for survival. It’s all happening at the moment.

I hope you have all recovered from your chocolate comas – I am just about recuperating – and are ready for another dramatic night of top-tier footie.

Let’s get stuck in!
