Adam Peaty has hinted about starting a family with girlfriend Holly Ramsay in a candid new Interview.

The Olympic swimmer, 29, who recently celebrated his one year anniversary with TV chef Gordon’s daughter, 24, discussed the future as well as his past after revealing battles with alcoholism and depression.

Speaking to Men’s Health UK Adam, who already shares three-year-old son George with ex Eirianedd Munro, recalled how he was ‘broken’ by the sport’ and left ‘crying every day’ and ‘not wanting to look at a pool’,  turning to drinking and partying as an escape.

When asked why he didn’t quit the sport all together when at his lowest he said: ‘I was within a hair of giving it all up. What was I going back for? Pride? It took a while to find the answer.

‘But I wanted to teach [my son] George and any other children I have in future that you don’t give up when things get hard or the world feels like it’s against you. You give up when the time is right. I can take losses, but I couldn’t take regret. Regret would eat any man inside out.’

Adam and Eirinaedd, who split in 2022, originally found their three-year relationship under scrutiny when he made headlines after nearly kissing Strictly Come Dancing partner Katya Jones during one routine in 2021.

He later started dating Holly after meeting her while on the BBC show and still in a relationship, saying now his support network is ‘great’ and how it’s taken a long time to ‘get it right’.

‘From the people at Aquatics GB, the people around me every day, the people I see on Sunday at church, my family, Holly. It’s an incredible team and it’s taken so long to get it right’.

Adam discussed the devastating consequences he’s faced as a result of his gruelling training and bid for Olympic glory.

That mentality has got me medals, but it has cost me…Medals are the coldest thing you wear because in pursuit of greatness, you’ll destroy relationships’.

He continued: ‘People will tell you there’s a choice, but there is no choice; it’s win or lose. I’ve got to be willing to go all in for a victory. Most of the time you have to be selfish to achieve the goals I’m striving for’.

Adam also touched on his recent alcoholism and depression troubles saying how it had only been a year since he ‘started to face’ what he’d been going through.

‘The answers can’t be found in a nightclub, or some of the stuff that I’d been doing. It had to be found in true accountability, tough and deep conversations with people around me’.

Before adding: ‘It requires so much maturity to face yourself in the mirror and admit that your behaviour is not acceptable’.

Adam met Eirianedd on Tinder in 2019 while training in Loughborough, where she was a student – and their son George was born in September 2020.

But they had an acrimonious split in August 2022 and he revealed that he had suffered ‘three years of hell‘ – which covers the time when he was with her.

Following his revelation Eirianedd said how she had forgiven and moved from Adam who has faced depression and alcoholism.

She told MailOnline: ‘I’ve chosen to forgive and move forward – anything other than that does not serve the wellbeing of myself, my son and our family.

Announcing the news of their split via social media in 2022, Adam wrote: ‘Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time.’

Eirianedd took to her own social media to announce the split, predicting she would face an ‘incredibly difficult’ future.

The split marked another instance of the doomed ‘Strictly curse’ striking once again making Adam the latest in a long line of celebrities whose relationships ended during or after the dance show.

But the swimmer’s brother James Peaty insisted the split was not due to his sibling’s appearance on the hit BBC dance show, insisting: ‘He was in it over a year ago. It has nothing to do with Strictly.’

Adam also revealed how Holly’s famous father Gordon helped pull him out of his ‘deep, dark hole’.

Telling The Sunday Times the celebrity chef has emerged as a mentor and role model, who he looks up to for his ‘relentless pursuit’ and how he has worked ‘his way up to the upper echelons of his industry’.

‘Gordon is a high performer. He worked his way up to the upper echelons of his industry and works in a place where there’s no bulls***’

‘I take a lot from that and from the professionalism he has every single day with a relentless pursuit.

‘So, when I see that, I’m like, “Yeah, why can’t I work like this? Why can’t I do this every single day? Why do I have to be so emotionally engaged with things?”

He added that watching Gordon operate in his job inspired him to change his own manner and approach to swimming.
