Alesha Dixon showed off her famous figure as she kickstarted her music comeback at the Britain’s Got Talent live semi-final on Friday – before being left red-faced by a contestant’s comment.

The star performed her reggae-inspired comeback single Ransom, her first new song in three years, and a Mis-Teeq medley at the end of the variety programme, after an awkward show gaffe revealed that the performance was actually pre-recorded.

During magician Trixy’s act, he wanted Alesha and to participate, and asked her how many audience members she thought there were.

But when he asked the judge how she was feeling that evening, he let slip that Alesha had pre-recorded her musical performance for the show.

He said: ‘Alesha. Lovely performance, by the way.’

Alesha laughed awkwardly, as did co-judge Bruno Tonioli, and thanked him quickly in a bid to move on, but the gaffe did not go unnoticed by fans at home.

Posts included penned: ‘The magician giving away that Alesha has pre-recorded her performance #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.’

‘Did we miss Alesha’s performance? #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.’…’Magician just revealed Alesha’s performance later is a pre-rec’… ‘So Alesha ain’t performing live then.’

However, BGT was not trying to deceive viewers as when Alesha performed, the ‘live’ tag notably disappeared from screens.

Alesha performed as part of a stellar line-up of acts for the semi-finals, which has included the cast of Frozen the musical as well as the cast of The Lion King and brand new musical & Juliet.

Her song Ransom samples Jamaican reggae artist Ini Kamoze’s track Here Comes The Hotstepper, and comes nine years after the release of her last album.

Produced by Supa Dups, the music video was shot in cities Port Antonio and Kingston in Jamaica, where Alesha’s father Melvin hails from.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge said: ‘I wanted a sample that was super familiar. Known and loved by all races, I wanted to fuse my commercial persona with my roots, the music I grew up on and still love that is such a big part of who I am.’

Nine years after the released of her last album, Alesha kickstarted her return as an independant artist with an energetic performance

Alesha is no longer signed to a music label and spoke about the difficulties that brings.

She told The Sun: ‘It’s expensive putting out music. I’m an independent artist so it’s a lot, energetically, for me to put myself back out there. At this point in my life and career, it’s just about what makes me feel good.’

Alesha rose to fame as one-fourth of UK R&B group Mis-Teeq, which quickly became a trio. They were known for their smash hit Scandalous.

Alesha also enjoyed success as a solo artist, releasing songs such as Breathe Slow and The Boy Does Nothing.
