The long-distance lovers clashed almost immediately after Kobe relocated from Cameroon, Africa, to Emily’s hometown of Salina, Kansas, and the pair only continued to butt heads as they navigated their new family dynamic on the hit TLC series. How Did ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Kobe and Emily Meet?
Kobe and the Kansas native first met in Xi’an, China, during a wild night out and conceived their son, Koban. Emily returned to the United States and welcomed their son in July 2019 while Kobe was still living in China. Once the COVID pandemic hit, it delayed the Cameroon native’s visa by two years, leaving Emily to raise their son by herself.
“Daddy’s from Africa, mommy’s from America and Koban was made in China. I love my little family so much,” Emily captioned her August 2019 Instagram picture, first introducing her son to the internet.
“Aww. Made in China, hhmm I love this made in China,” Kobe said in the comments.
In her confessional on the season 9 premiere, which debuted in April 2022, Emily revealed that she was excited for Kobe to meet their son in person for the very first time but she was also nervous how he would receive her because she had gained weight throughout her pregnancy and looked different from the last time he saw her in China.
Shortly after they reunited for the first time at the airport, Kobe made a negative comment about Emily’s appearance. After Emily almost drooled over how good she thought he looked, Kobe did anything but return the favor. “She’s changed. She’s gained weight, but it’s not about how she looks,” he said at the time.
Fans shamed the father of one in the comments of the clip posted by the official 90 Day Fiancé Instagram account. “Already started bad talking about her weight [thumbs down emoji] shame on him,” an Instagram user commented.
When Did 90 Day Fiance’s Emily and Kobe Get Married?
Emily and Kobe satisfied the requirements of their K-1 visa and married in 2022.
The pair celebrated their love again in 2023 after traveling to Kobe’s native Cameroon to participate in a traditional ceremony. The wedding, which welcomed more than 100 guests, was aired during season 8 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? in 2024.
“We really wanted to embrace a traditional Cameroonian wedding,” the mom of three told People in June 2024. “It was important to us to be able to give Kobe’s dad a wedding he would never forget. We wanted to honor all the traditions of Kobe’s culture.”
Emily and Kobe Return for 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 8
After welcoming two children together, Emily and Kobe returned to screens to share their lives with fans as a married couple. At the time, the pair still lived in the home of Emily’s parents, but were traveling overseas to visit Kobe’s home continent of Africa for the first time as a family of four.

When meeting her family, one of Emily’s male family members told her she better not get pregnant with baby No. 2. However, it seems as if he may have spoken too soon because later in the season, Kobe and Emily found themselves in a drug store bathroom waiting for the results of a pregnancy test.
The pair were too afraid to take the test at home and risk her parents finding the evidence, so the pair administered the exam immediately after purchasing it at the pharmacy.
“I can’t even believe we are doing a pregnancy test right now,” she told Kobe as she frantically opened a test kit.
Following the airing of the July 2022 episode, Emily confirmed she and Kobe were officially expecting baby No. 2.
“Secret’s out!” the nanny shared via Instagram in July 2022, alongside a photo of their son, Koban, smiling next to a sonogram of baby No. 2. “Our family is growing, and we are all so excited.”
It was revealed later on that Emily and Kobe welcomed baby No. 2, a daughter named Scarlett, in October 2021.
Emily and Kobe weren’t done building their family as they revealed in November 2023 that they were officially expecting baby No. 3. The TLC personalities welcomed their son only four months later.
“Kobe and I are so excited to share we welcomed a beautiful healthy baby boy to our family!” Emily told Us Weekly on March 18, 2024. “Our hearts are overflowing with love watching Koban and Scarlett love on their new baby brother, Atem.”

Despite their struggles to make it down the aisle, Kobe and Emily are still going strong! Emily commemorated her and Kobe’s Cameroon wedding in a special social media post.
“I felt so beautiful the day of our traditional wedding. I really wanted to embrace Kobe’s culture and look like a true Cameroonian bride,” she captioned an Instagram Reel showing off her bridal make up. “I have so much to share about this day with you all. It truly was magical.”
